Ashton Kutcher buys Demi Moore a 2010 Prius for her Birthday

Submitted by Danny on November 18, 2009 - 4:57pm.

I usually don't dabble in celebrity news because, frankly, there's so much of it when it comes to the Prius. But when I saw that Demi Moore had gotten a 2010 Prius for her birthday, I decided to post it for a couple of reasons:

Super-Sized Prius coming by end of 2010?

Submitted by Danny on November 13, 2009 - 10:47am.

Would you like fries with that? Some pretty reputable news sources are running with a story that Toyota will be releasing a super-sized Prius by the end of 2010. The Prius XL will be in the form of a wagon or small SUV - probably similar to the size of what the RAV4 used to be. The Prius XL will also be the first hybrid that Toyota produces with a lithium-ion battery pack in place of the NiMH pack used in the 2010 (and previous) Prius.

2010 Prius used as robbery getaway car by Tennessee football players

Submitted by Danny on November 13, 2009 - 10:23am.

As a South Carolina football fan and hater of all things Tennessee orange and white, this story is just too good to pass up commenting on. Earlier this week 3 Tennessee football players were arrested in connection to an attempted armed robbery. The details of the attempted robbery don't really matter to Prius enthusiasts, save one: their getaway car was a 2010 Toyota Prius.

My guess is that they were hoping to use the EV mode to evade the cops.

New Prius bought, stolen, then found using Safety Connect all in first 24 hours

Safety Connect in 2010 Prius
Have you ever bought a new car and had trouble sleeping the first night? It's kind of a surreal story, but PriusChat forum user R2Pre2 shared the details of her first 24 hours of Prius ownership: She bought her new 2010 Prius, brought it home, had it stolen by thieves, and then retrieved by the police thanks to the Safety Connect feature installed in her package V Prius.

Site Outlines Step-by-Step 2010 Prius Emergency Extrication

Submitted by Danny on November 5, 2009 - 4:28pm.

Jason Emery over on FireEngineering.com put together a very thorough and interesting article on how to prepare the 2010 Prius for vehicle extrication in the unfortunate event that it may be needed. This isn't a "OMG! Don't touch a hybrid because you WILL DIE!" kind of article. In fact, it's totally the opposite.

The article takes an in-depth look at how to make the Prius as safe as possible while responding to an emergency situation. It even goes into how to remove the roof off of a 2010 Prius with a solar panel.

Weathertech "Digital Fit" Extreme Floor Mats now available for 2010 Prius

Submitted by Danny on October 26, 2009 - 1:41pm.

With winter approaching and Toyota having put a "stop sale" on all Prius OEM all-weather mats, we're all going to be looking for some high-quality, well made rubber mats to keep the mud, slush and snow from ruining our Prius' carpet.

2010 Prius spottings on TV?

Submitted by Danny on October 19, 2009 - 1:16pm.

I was catching up on some DVR'd TV programs last night and noticed on The Office that Ed Helms' character, Andy upgraded from his Gen 2 Prius to a spankin' new 2010 Gen 3. Those of you who watch the show regularly know that Andy's 2nd Gen Prius was somewhat of an extension of Andy's character and has played a prominent role in a few scenes.

Increase Your MPGs! Engine Block Heaters Available for 2010 Prius

Submitted by Danny on September 11, 2009 - 1:19pm.

It's getting to that time of year when it's chilly when you leave for that morning commute.  You've probably started to notice that your Prius gets notably worse gas mileage on these cold mornings, and the PriusChat Shop has the way to remedy it.  An Engine Block Heater is an easy to install add-on to your car that allows you to "pre-heat" your Prius' engine, enabling you to start out with fantastic mileage even on the coldest of days.

Toyota Upping the Oil Change Interval to 10,000 Miles for 2010 Prius, other Toyota models

Submitted by Danny on September 10, 2009 - 1:36pm.

With some new 2010 Prius owners being charged $100+ for an oil change due to the 0W-20 synthetic oil requirements, we have some good news.  PriusChat forum member Sphyrna has posted a document provided by his dealership in Miami showing that the 2010 Prius oil change interval will be changed to 10,000 miles instead of the current 5,000 miles.  The document appears to be a training material for dealerships and contains other pages showing that th

Prius OEM iPod/USB Integration Officially Official with Pricing

Submitted by Danny on August 3, 2009 - 6:02pm.

If you were around on Earth Day for the PriusChat Earth Day Live Chat with Doug Coleman from the Prius product team, you already know half the story.  The Prius will have a factory-installed iPod integration option for Navigation-equipped models beginning with August production and most likely hitting the shores in September.  What Doug couldn't (or wouldn't) tell us back in April was the price of this upcoming option.  Today we have news from Toyota's Flickr and Twitter feeds that the
