George Barris Prius
Well, the Prius has again made another list.
This time as one of BusinessWeek's Fifty Ugliest Cars of the Past Fifty Years.
It states that the Prius "...has all the style of a soybean."

Here's the BusinessWeek blurb about the Prius: Fifty Ugliest Cars of the Past Fifty Years

Monday Morning Prius Diary - Porsche Edition

Submitted by Danny on November 2, 2009 - 11:02am.

This past weekend found me traveling to Knoxville, Tennessee for yet another Carolina football game (and loss). I spent most of the game admiring the gorgeous HD scoreboard that UT added recently, and was surprised to see an ad for the 3rd Generation Prius during the game. Pretty cool!

I also had the opportunity to drive the very nice Porsche Panamera Turbo. At 500 hp this car takes off like a rocket. It also has a ton of coll tech toys. My MPGs? 13.1. Here's a photo for you to drool over.

More Prius Coupe and MPV rumors swirling

Submitted by Danny on October 29, 2009 - 8:22am.

Ready for some rumors? Like, totally unsubstantiated rumors? Here you go. The latest rumor this week is that Toyota is not only planning the Prius Coupe that PriusChat has been reporting for about 7 months now, but you can add a MPV (like a mini-minivan) to the list. This model would compete with the still-concept Honda Skydeck.

Toyota develops new flower species to offset CO2 at Prius plant

Submitted by Danny on October 28, 2009 - 8:48am.

Pretty interesting article over on The Age about Toyota's efforts to decrease CO2 emissions at it's Prius plant in Japan.
Toyota has created a new plant species designed to offset the CO2 created by its Prius assembly operations.
Toyota has created two flower species that absorb nitrogen oxides and take heat out of the atmosphere.
The flowers, derivatives of the cherry sage plant and the gardenia, were specially developed for the grounds of Toyota’s Prius plant in Toyota City, Japan.

Weathertech "Digital Fit" Extreme Floor Mats now available for 2010 Prius

Submitted by Danny on October 26, 2009 - 1:41pm.

With winter approaching and Toyota having put a "stop sale" on all Prius OEM all-weather mats, we're all going to be looking for some high-quality, well made rubber mats to keep the mud, slush and snow from ruining our Prius' carpet.

Ok, the beans are about to be spilled so I thought I'd give you guys the scoop first.

You know those two Prius that Five Axis is modifying for SEMA? One of them will get the full SEMA-style remake, with unique body kit, wheels, paint, audio/video, and redone interior. That one's called Prius Aerius, and we're keeping it under wraps until, well, SEMA.

2010 Prius spottings on TV?

Submitted by Danny on October 19, 2009 - 1:16pm.

I was catching up on some DVR'd TV programs last night and noticed on The Office that Ed Helms' character, Andy upgraded from his Gen 2 Prius to a spankin' new 2010 Gen 3. Those of you who watch the show regularly know that Andy's 2nd Gen Prius was somewhat of an extension of Andy's character and has played a prominent role in a few scenes.

Monday Morning Prius Diary - VI

Submitted by Danny on October 19, 2009 - 1:09pm.

I spent the weekend in a 2010 Honda Pilot, leaving the Prius at home for my trip to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. We averaged a pretty painful 20.5 MPG overall (about 10% below the EPA highway numbers), but the added space was nice.

The Monday Morning Prius Diary seems to be getting A LOT more response over on our Facebook page, so feel free to become a "fan" of PriusChat and post your own comment about your weekend.

New PriusChat Mobile Forums - priuschat.com/mobile

Submitted by Danny on October 14, 2009 - 11:18am.

Prius owners are known for being some of the most technologically advanced car enthusiasts on the planet, so it only makes sense for PriusChat to have a smartphone/mobile version of the site.

The mobile site was mainly designed around Webkit browsers (iPhone, iPod Touch, Palm Pre), but it should work well for everyone.

There are 2 easy ways to get to the new mobile site - either visit http://priuschat.com/mobile or choose "Mobile/iPhone Style" from the style dropdown at the bottom left of every PriusChat forum page.
