Hey all,
I have a 06 Prius package 3 that can play data cd’s. For a while, I was using my mp3 player exclusively and the cd imput area as a spot to place yellow post-it notes. One day, the cd player ‘ate’ the post it note, and I had to fish it out.

I’ve recently decided to play my mp3’s through the cd (less space but easier to manage). What happens is that specific songs or track numbers are very scratchy. AT first, I thought it was the songs, but I’ve made separate cd’s with the same songs in different order. I think order placement has more to do with the problem then the songs themselves. I think only about 10% of the songs have a problem.

I’m pretty sure it’s because of the post it. Any idea of what I can do to fix the problem? It seems to play regular audio CD’s pretty well. Thanks!-- John

Bummer, John.

I do not have any sound problems playing MP3 disks verses music CDs. It is not likely that it is a song placement issue if you are using the same blank disks for creating both. If you computer plays them fine, it points to your post it note problem.

You might have to go in and clean your player out.

Good luck,

Some auto CD players like some types of CDs better than others. Without getting into too many technical terms, the data side of some CDs have a blue color, while others are silver. Very often, one type or the other will work better in the auto CD player. In my 2006 Prius (and also in my wife's 2002 Saturn), the silver ones work best, and the blue ones are scratchy and skip a lot.

This is my suggestion of the first thing to check. Good luck!
