My Car: Package: Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | I have an after market Sirius radio that was in my previous car (a Honda). I installed myself in the Honda using the rubber ring around the back window. The problem is, the Prius doesn't have a rubber ring to hide the wire. Has anyone installed an after market Sirius radio in their Prius? Detailed instructions would be appreciated. And here's a stupid question. In my Honda, all I had to do was tune to 88.1 fm and I got the Sirius signal. Do I really need to put the antenna on top of the car? Would I be able to receive the Sirius signal if I just kept everything inside the car? |

Here are the steps I took to install the Starmate in the cubbyhole: I followed the installation of the Sirius antenna according to cariro94507’s instructions. Many of the pictures are similar, so I won’t bother reposting them. Attached is a step-by-step of how I routed the antenna wire. This is a temporary installation. I plan on running the cables behind the dash when I have time to install the wired FM relay. It sure would be nice to have that Aux-In jack. As of right now, I'm using the FM modulation to get the signal (just like you did in your Honda). | |

My Car: Package: Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | I put my antenna about 6 inches to the right of the radio antenna. Routed the wire under the plastic kick panels below the doors, then up under the edges of the interior panels through the luggage area to the rubber seal on the hatchback, under the rubber seal to come out by the radio antenna. I cut a small notch in the metal edging the rubber sits on so that when the hatchback is closed it does not cut the wire on that metal edging. Took 15 minutes at most. Same basic routing I have done on 3 other cars. To get the audio from the Sirius receiver to the car I routed a stereo wire with mini-jack under the carpet to the center console and popped up into the console. Then simply plug it into the AUX jack. Very simple and slick. See my previous post at: http://priuschat.com/index.php?act=Post&am...amp;qpid=302208

I have an S50 as well, mounted mine down and to the right of the center pod under the dash. For the antenna, I originally had mine on the roof, worked fine but didn't like the wiring run. When I re-did things I just kept the antenna inside the car, used the center speaker grill (metal) to stick it on there. Recently I ran all the wires internally. I have a post on this, but here's a link to the pictures and full description: S50 install in Prius

My Car: 2005 Prius Package: #4 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 1 | Here is the installation of my Starmate in the CD tray. I have updated my file from the beginning, so it is complete from running the Sirius antenna behind the factory antenna to drilling the hole in the CD tray and installing the FM relay. Enjoy. |
