Friends: 0 | I have money down on a 2010 prius IV with solar roof. I want to upgrade to 17" wheels with new tires similar to what is on the series V. The dealer suggested I do it on my own which would be much less expensive. How will this change affect gas mileage? Any ideas where I should get it done? I live in the East Valley. I will also have four new 15" tires and wheels for sale that fit a 2010. Any interest? Mark H. |

Friends: 9 | It has been mentioned the 17" wheels on the Prius V would reduce a persons fuel economy by about 3 MPG. |

I also would recommend going aftermarket or ordering the car with the factory wheels already on the vehicle. Do not do dealer installed. The cost through parts and service is way too much.

Friends: 18 | Like mentioned the 17"s cost 2-3 mpg. I rode in the back seat of a 17" version and the ride was slightly harsher compared to a 15" version. When going aftermarket, look for low rolling resistance tires to help minimize the MPG hit of the larger rims. |

No, it is true what I said. It would further reduce the MPG's if they put the solar roof option on the V with the 17's... I'd have taken the further hit, but it just wasn't meant to be...

Ok let's make sure we are on the same page lol... We both agree that they didn't add the solar roof to the V with the 17's because it would reduce MPG. But are you disagreeing that the 17's alone on the V reduce the MPG 2-3mpg? If you are, they have said that that is a fact.
