Default 4.2 NAV update

I had my system updated yesterday and am totally unhappy! The new system sends me through gated communities that 4.1 didn't. Today as I was coming home from Sunnyvale, it kept directing me to go north at Fair Oaks, First Street and everyother n/s street. Don't know where it thought I was going! Across the Bay? Through Alviso? Through the dump? There are NO east/west streets connecting north of 237 until the Dumbarton Bridge that I have ever heard of. I have absolutely no faith in any directions it may give me, now.

I have a call in to the dealer to get the update undone.

My customer service rep called and told me to bring the car back and they would re-initialize it and see if that would help. It didn't so they reinstalled my 4.1 version. It could be that I hit the only 2-3 anomolies in the system but since it suddenly couldn't find the one and only route to my house (and tried to send me into the Bay!) I had no faith in any of the other directions. Without faith, I might as well not have the NAV at all.

I'm glad to hear this. I'm scheduled to get the nav update but use the nav every day for work. If this new one is that faulty in this are, i'm sticking with my current version.

Couldn't you copy the current one ( old one) and then simply change the DVD if you don't like the new one or does the dealer have to do something? Before the misguided copyright defenders get into their moral outrage, I will make it clear: I do not, in the least, care about copyright laws or implications.

They wouldn't let me have either copy. Didn't think to copy 4.1 before I went in yesterday. I had such high hopes....

The tech kept my returned 4.2 to check out some things. Wanted to know if it was just my copy that was messed up or the whole release. Said he'd hold them for me in case I ever changed my mind and wanted to upgrade. I think I'll wait for the next one.

The tech couldn't have been nicer. This was at Fremont Toyota.

I had mine updated a few days ago, And am pleased to say that I have not found any problems, I have not used it a whole lot but enough to say I am pleased with it. Well at least I am not disgruntled with it. I hope things turn around for you.

Hey Cobrakid, Ten Thousand Comedians out of work and you are trying to be funny. Is it not past your bed time or at least your afternoon nap. I will get some KoolAid for you when you wake up.
Have a great Christmas.
