Friends: 0 | I'm curious what are your experiences driving the hills of SF? I've had my 2005 Prius since March 1st. I find my mileage to be somewhat erratic depending on how much time I spend on the freeways. I drive only on the weekends, usually in the city with occasional trips to Alameda. I've gotten 44 mpg, 48 mpg, and now I'm barely able to maintain 44 again. The SF Toyota dealer said we should expect to see 44. I find that driving over to Alameda helps the MPG a lot, contrary to the published EPA which states a city MPG should be better than a highway MPG. By the way, Alameda is Prius Heaven - 25 MPH everywhere and Flat! |

Friends: 5 | i've always achieved lower mpg in s.f. you don't nearly generate enough energy by going down those hill. You get really low mpg going up them. If under 25mph, while going down, i shift it into B. It engages the generators instead of the engine. |
