Default Where to rent a Prius in Toronto...

A couple of weeks ago, we were looking online at several of the rental car companies for some friends of ours to rent a Prius for an upcoming road trip we'd planned. They like our Prius, and wanted to try one out. Hertz and National listed them on their sites, but now they are all gone, and I just got confirmation from Hertz that they no longer rent any Prius or other hybrids (even the Camry Hybrid was eliminated) in Canada. I'm calling National and other car rental companies next, but I'm shocked that they would eliminate these from their lineup!

Does anyone have any ideas of other possibilities of renting Prius' in the Toronto area?

Many thanks!

I would try Thrifty. They seem to have a Toyota fleet (Corollas and Camrys). That's also where I rented a Camry Hybrid (not in Toronto though...)

PNorth,

This would be way too late for your road trip, but might help others down the road.

The Enterprise Rent-A-Car at Yonge/Sheppard has a 2008 Prius base package. I THINK it's their inventory, but I don't know for certain, as they might have had it from another rental location (different return location). I've been driving it since mid-August as an insurance replacement.

I also know Hertz at the YYZ airport has at least one.

Thrifty is a crap shoot. They do say they have them in the fleet, but all the Thrifty locations I called that was nearby to me didn't have one at all.

My personal opinion, Enterprise is a good bet. I noticed as I drove out of the St. John's NL airport the past weekend, that the Enterprise location had 3 Prius parked in their lot. That location has since been taken over by National, but to think in a place like St. John's that they have 3 Prius, I think it says a lot about their entire fleet.
