Has anyone installed a hitch to their Prius, I am looking to carry an electric wheelchair on a trailer hitch-mount? Any feedback?

There has been some discussion about this. A few companies do sell a Prius specific hitch, CoastalETech being one of them.

I don't think the Prius or the hitch will carry a full size electric wheelchair, though it will carry a lightweight scooter. The wheelchairs are just too heavy. The Prius max cargo weight, including passengers/driver is 800 pounds. No specs on the hitch carrying capacity, but probably not specified as if you have to ask, it's too heavy.

I was considering doing something like this for my girlfriend, but we'll have to resort to carrying her manual chair. Once I get a hitch, I'll look for a bicycle rack with the right configuration that can cary the chair.

The Coastal hitch receiver is rated for a tongue weight of 200 pounds.
