Removing the 12V Aux battery

Hi,

Can anybody give me a step-by-step procedure in how to remove the 12v battery? How do you remove the red cap covering the positive terminal? I need to run two power cables to the battery from the black plastic tray that sits over the temp tire. Will a regular spade drill bit drill through plastic? I'll need to make a hole to run the cables to the battery.

You can pull the red-cap off with your hands. I got a bass unit in the tray powered off that aux-batt.
