I got my Prius since May. Now when it rains at night, it gets a bit hard to see. Mayb due to the fact that I park my car out door.
So I was thinking getting glass treatment. I saw Rain-X and Aquapel. From this website, and also reviews on Amazon, seems like Rain-X doesn't last too long. I am planning to get Aquapel since they claim it'll last up to 6 months. Anybody else like to share some experience here?
Thanks in advance.

I can't speak for anyone else but Rain-X has lasted a LOT longer than the time period specified (30 days) on the Aquapel web site. Of course, I would sort of expect that coming from the manufacturer of a competing product.

The FAQ on the (PPG) Aquapel web site states that ammonia-based cleaners will not affect the durability of the product. On the other hand, I read, on a windshield repair kit distributor's web site, that the best method to remove Aquapel prior to performing a repair was to use their ammonia-based glass cleaner! That same site stated that their ammonia-based cleaner was ineffective for removing Rain-X.

FWIW...

i use rain-x every 6 months and have since i owned my first car.

it's very effective, even in winter snow and ice, and also makes bug splatter easy to clean up.

can't say i've even heard of aquapel...

I use a product called Invisible Glass http://autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?UseCa...7ESTO%7C%7Etrue

Using this on the outside and inside of my windows makes them spotless. It is truly fantastic! Since I have begun using this product, I haven't needed to use Rain-X. My windows come clean with a single swipe of the wipers and the water beads up. The other bonus is that they are always crystal clean!

It seems that the Invisible Glass leave your windows with a nice coating so that dirt doesn't stick easily. I wonder if a combination of the two products would yield a superior windsheild finish?

clean with invisible glass 2-3 times, then apply rain-x twice for a good coat.
then clean again with invisible glass to remove all remnants of rain-x haze. works like a charm, takes maybe an hour every 6 months.

Thanks!

I'm just amazed at the wealth of knowledge I've accumulated over the past month from being on PriusChat.

And once again, the members don't disappoint.

Looks like local Pepboys is offering Aquapel Glass treatment for $9.99 thru Oct. 31. I might just give it a try and see what the result is.
