I know that most everyone inflates the tires on their Prius to at least 40/38, but could someone tell me what is the recommended pressure by the manufacturer? I think the maximum is 44, but what is the stated recommendation- is it 35/35?

Thanks

There's a decal on the door post of the driver's side that says the recommended pressure too.

The tire makers don't normally recommend a pressure. That is the job of the auto maker. All the tire makers do is recommend that you stay under the maximum pressure which is listed on the sidewall of the tire.

The maximum pressure is right on the tire itself. The car maker recommends other lower pressures as a compromise between ride, handling, and fuel economy.

Are you from Birmingham UK?
The reason I ask is that I have 2007 with 16" rims but there is no maximum pressure on the tire wall.
