"08 Cruise Control hates to Resume

Oh, about once in ten times it will resume. In ordinary cars, they only forget the previous setting if you stop and remove the key from the ignition. Since this car has a "smart" key, I never insert it in the first place. No, I do not press the Start/Stop button except in the parking lot.

Should I take it in for service? :P

No, don't bother with service. What you describe is how it's designed to work. This is another example of our legal system at work. Toyota makes the cruise control forget its setting if you slow down too much, probably to avoid unexpected acceleration when you re-engage it. It's dumb, but they don't want to get sued.

Is that true? I thought it forgot if you dropped below 25MPH/40KPH.

My BMW is exactly the same - so it is not just Toyota.

Don't exaggerate the impact - it is hardly much of an inconvenience.

Inconvenience is subjective; it's like telling me the sky isn't as blue as I see it, but then I'm arguing a point that makes no difference to me: I don't find the cruise control hard to use. I do object to the intrusion of lawsuit madness into common sense. It's the same reason that the NAV controls are locked out while the vehicle is in motion, and that rock climbing is illegal on state land in Kentucky. Our overly litigious society is removing personal responsibility from the realm of everyday life. Everything has to be wrapped in padding with soft rounded corners, and we all have to be protected from ourselves for fear we might do something really stupid. I'm not exaggerating the impact of that, and it is an inconvenience.

I guess I forgot to mention that I usually accelerate up to 40 to 50 mph before trying to resume. Then I move the lever, take my foot off the gas, and watch the speed drop. Other cars, the speed always adjusted to the previous setpoint.

No, like said before, once the speed is lower than 25 km/h than the set speed, it forgets the setting. I thing it isn't a bad thing, çause when you had to lower the speed for over 25 km/h, it could mean that traffic conditions have changed .
