It's guaranteed to last 15k miles between oil changes. For us prius owners, this could possibly give us 20k miles? Maybe even more. I, for one, would really like this product. I have yet to look at the price though. I currently use Mobil1 Sythetic blend and like it. I have over 20k miles on my car (almost 25k) and have been using sythetic for a while. There is also a 5k blend and 7.5k blend. here's a link for the 5w-30 blend http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil...ance_5W-30.aspx I'm noting that they mentioned this: "Please follow the recommendations in your owner's manual while your car is under warranty." in the discription in the end. They say "A special oil filter is not required." Now.. that prius post about a magnet in the drain plug comes to mind with waiting this long for oil changes. What's everyone elses thoughts? |

My Car: 2004 Prius Package: #9 Nominated 1 Time in 1 Post TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 20 | Interesting, I've seen the commercials and wondered what they would do/say about warranty issues. I guess they're not quite ready to sell the farm and claim you can go 15k while under warranty. I'll stick to Mobile 1 during my ICE warranty period at least. |

My Car: 2004 Prius Package: B Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 3 | While under warranty, you had better follow what Toyota recommends. Here in Canada, oil and filter change every 8,000km or 6 months. If you happen to use an oil that claims a certain time or mileage period, and something DOES go wrong, you then get into a p****** contest with Toyota and whomever made your oil. Good luck! That said, it appears the Mobil 1 EP line of oils are not Energy Saving listed. They are designed for more severe service, they also offer a 10W-40 and a 15W-50, a viscosity usually used in high performance applications. I intend to use Mobil 1 0W-30 while on warranty. If I still have my Prius off warranty, Mobil 1 0W-40. |

My Car: 2001 Prius Package: Pioneer #1 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 5 | Prius here is 2001 model year and I have been performing the oil and filter changes since the freebies ended at 37k miles or so. Now with 70k miles the longest I have left Mobil 1 synthetic in has been about 13k. This oil was analyzed at 7 and 13k (with an intermediate filter change at 7k) and was very good in terms of wear metals, silicon (dust), soot (ring blowby) and viscosity. I replaced the oil after 13k because the "total base number" (TBN) had fallen to a low level. My intial indications are that this synthetic oil may be relied upon for 13k. Without knowing more about the filter, I would not talk about skipping the intermediate filter change. I have put these oil analyses on yahoo before and am happy to post them here if needed. Please understand I am not able to assume liability for what you all do with your cars, but I will share my results. You make your own decisions.
