October 1997 was when the world first got to see Prius.

December 1997 was when Prius sales first began in Japan.

How much longer do we have to endure the hype before it finally ends up in consumer driveways? Years of promotion before the product is available doesn't accomplish much. Making a difference means actually selling something.

Listen, I don't even want a GM POS that they took their time building. I certainly don't want an auto that GM "rushed to market".

I'm guessing this is just a shell...maybe with a battery pack and a mock-up of the generator/ICE...just something else to hype/show off.

GM had an electric car 10 years ago, but they buried it. We'll see what they do now.
Gas prices have gotten to the point where the car manufacturers and oil companies are no longer on the same track. Cars must go in a different direction from gas consumption.

i dont think its a "rush" job...but i do believe the ONLY thing we will see in sept is a pseudo intro/concept/production car only... probably will not be for sale in any volume for another year

I think "showroom" ready is probably not accurate...more likely they'll have something of a shell of the actual final body design probably with a mock-up or actual HV battery pack installed for an auto show[room].

I don't get it. What's to be excited about here?

What means "showroom ready?" Why, its nothing but Hollywood, all smoke
and mirrors, all show and no go, nothing but CYA, vaporware, deception.

As soon as GM produces a "Highway ready, buy it now" car, only then is there
reason even to pay attention.

And only then maybe, just maybe, will there be reason to get excited, but only
if you refuse to consider the other all-electrics that will have set the first
generation bench marks, and are moving on to Gen2, and over the horizon,
Gen3.

Do me a favor... Wake me up when the My Mother The Car reruns come on.
