Friends: 0 | I was watching the Beijing Olympics on NBC, and just minutes ago, I saw a commercial of the Volt for the first time. Talk about false advertisement. What's the latest progress on its development? I would appreciate the updates, although I HIGHLY doubt that they are at the stage of mass public announcement. |

I have said this before and I'll repeat it: I seriously - and I mean seriously - want to see GM come to market with "a Volt-like product." Whether they come to market before or after any other manufacturer is irrelevant to me. I WANT you to be right. I WANT more hybrids on the road. I WANT my 70+mpg to be a thing of the past laughed at by my coworkers who currently grow tired of hearing about my mileage. I WANT non-plugin hybrids to become the lesser option on showroom floors. I fully subscribe to the theory of evolution and I believe that it lives biologically and in the marketplace. I know that it was only a matter of months after the release of the 2004 Prius that people wanted to be able to recharge the battery overnight and I knew then that it was just a matter of time and technology. Competition in the marketplace is a good and wonderful thing. So as much as I rip on GM for hyping a concept, for changing expectations on a semi-regular basis, for upwardly adjusting the MSRP out of reach of the average family, I still want them to come to market with something, ANYTHING, that proves forward momentum. You and others might ask how I can say all that and still be loyal to the Prius. It's easy since the Prius is the only car of its caliber on the road today. And if Toyota doesn't trump themselves I say "shame on them" and will give GM kudos if they can bring the affordable plug-in hybrid to market before them.

Friends: 2 | Tony, never has anyone so exactly spoken for me! That is exactly how I feel. Would you mind if I plagerize your response Malorn, for many people it is not that it is impossible for GM to beat Toyota to the Volt-like vehicles. It is that GM has disapointed in the past when they HAD the lead in technology. And has nothing on the road at this time to match the the Prius. I want competition, and I hope the Volt makes it to market under budget and ahead of schedule. I just am not going to hold my breath |

Friends: 0 | GM needs to get a move on then, this past year when the Volt was at the major auto shows, it was a pusher, that is it is pushed to the booth and pushed on the turntable and after the show it is pushed off the turntable and out the door to it's car hauler. GM is saying 2010 and now they do not have a spot for the 400 pound battery. |
