After I viewed this thread I called the Costco-approved dealer in my area (Salt Lake City) and was told that they have very special pricing on everything but the hybrids for Costco members.

Then I called Costco to let them know, and the Member Advocate (1-800-800-5778) told me that all Prius were excluded.

I suggested that if Prius is systematically excluded then it should not be allowed as a choice of vehicles when you are on the 'find a dealer' screen. She said that a message comes up saying that it is excluded, but that didn't happen for me and I reported that.

Bummer. How about Karl Malone's sister dealership in Albuquerque? Maybe the UT Karl Malone could tell you if the NM Malone is Costco-affiliated.

I lived in SLC for 18 years and miss the Wasatch and Liberty Park and Brighton and Alta skiing a lot.

I used Costco in South Jersey. The discount is only $100 below MSRP. I didn't order the car , however because they wanted to add a $179 "Documentation Fee." This would make the car $79.00 ABOVE MSRP. Not a deal around here.

Hope that helps. <_<

I live in Minnesota. What is COSTCO and how do I get price quote for my 2006 Prius from them? Is there a dealer in my area?

There are I believe two or three Costco stores in the Twin Cities. One is in Eden Prairie. One is in St. Louis Park near 394 and Louisiana. It's a big box membership warehouse store like Sam's Club. I just looked at Costco.com last week under "Services" for the auto program, and it said the Prius was excluded. I don't know if that meant in my area, or nationally.

Not nationally; it's up to individual dealers.

I called Costco's Auto Program and was told that there were no dealers in Alaska that handled either Ford or Toyota vehicles (initially I was looking to price a Ford Escape because I knew of three in the area and also knew that the Toyota dealer had no Prius'). I was also told that the Prius was not on the discount list.

The CAP directed me to a Tacoma, WA dealer, which contacted me about their Ford Escape. In my conversation with the salesman, I asked about whether they had any Prius' on the lot and found out that they had one that the buyer that ordered it bailed.

No discount--I wasn't expecting any--and pretty soon I'll have a 2006 Prius in the Silver Pine Mica color and equipped with Package #4 on a barge headed north.

Oh, and I financed through the CAP-connection with Capital One @ 5.54%.

To say the least, I'm looking forward to my new ride and the apparent learning experience that goes along with it. And my order for a set of snow tires will be going in as soon as I hear it's on the barge.

Congratulations! Amazing how you can make a simple call and hook up with a Prius like that.

Now there are enough of you (PCers) in Anchorage to stage the First-Ever Anchorage Prius Group get-together. Is it good enough weather for a nice BBQ?

COSTCO gets us a 100 bucks off of 2 dealerships here in phx. Not much else.

Apparently they do that token "discount" to be in Costco's good graces---although most dealers won't even do that. I was lucky.
