Blue Prius 4 w/ SR in Maryland Available

My salesperson called me today and mentioned he had a blue model 4 w/ SR coming i next week that has not yet been claimed. It was originally ordered by PriusRos, but she got a really nice grey car elsewhere. Knowing how rare they are in this area I thought I'd pass this tidbit on.

Anyhow, if anyone is interested, contact Ray Alvarez at DarCars Toyota in Silver Spring ASAP.

Also just got an e-mail from Antwerpan Toyota in Clarksville, MD indicating they have a black model 4 in stock w/ SR available now. I cannot recommend a particular salesperson there (I had a not-so-good experience with one there, and don't know others there).

Oh, but wait... I contacted the dealership yesterday about the car. Spoke with Radhi (who was talking to Ray). They didn't know the car was available, it was still reserved in the system. They called the person who has a deposit on the car and determined the car really was available. Sounds good... So far. They told me that they would check the inventory status the next day and I could either come and pick it up (if it was there) or come in and put a deposit on it.

Today they told me there was some kind of mix up and that it really wasn't available.

!@#$ back to my original plan of placing an order at the Laurel Carmax dealership and waiting. !@#$

Join the club. I've already had one Model IV solar roof sold out from under me (after I specially put a deposit down on it). I have a deposit down on another one coming in on the ship at any minute (the ship is in NY harbor right now, just off Sandy Hook, so it should arrive at the dock in Newark tonight). I am keeping my fingers crossed that they (a different dealer) don't sell this one out from under me. I should know for sure within the next week.

One has to wonder how that kind of thing is legal. With my situation, money had not changed hands. But, if I put down a deposit, that would be entirely different. There is a definite contract. I will be putting in an order (at a different dealership), and I will keep your experience in mind. I'll have to see if there's any paperwork... maybe I'll add some more. The sales person who orders the vehicle is tied to the order, so if it sold out from under, then they're involved. An oral agreement may be binding...

aaah, probably not. I suppose they have enough "outs"... booo!!!

This is what happened -- it was a genuine mix-up. My friend placed the order for the blue ribbon with solar. About a week later, I placed an order for a solar in blizzard pearl, blue ribbon, or winter grey. Soon after that, I was told (by mr.scott) about another dealer who had the winter grey so I bought from them and cancelled my order with Darcars.

When blue ribbon came in, they thought my friend had ordered the blizzard pearl (which was also on its way) and that the blue ribbon was the one that I had ordered. Since they knew I had bought my car, they thought it was available.

Actually, it wasn't available because it was my friend's order, and she picked it up today! It was good that mr.scott had contacted me about it because he remembered that my friend was looking for a blue ribbon w/solar ... and we were able to contact the dealer before they sold it to someone else!

As of yesterday, yes. Radhi told me there was one, but I wasn't interested b/c I wanted Blue.

@PriusRos, thanks for the clarification. I felt for certain that they simply sold to someone there. I was wrong. Radhi was very polite and apologetic (I just didn't believe him. I am prone to idiocy at times...)
