British Columbia-based Finavera Renewables got the preliminary license Thursday from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. FERC says it's the first-ever license for a hydrokinetic energy project.... http://www.theolympian.com/northwest/story/305462.html ahhh the red tape clean energy has to go thru.... the license is basically the first gold paver on the road to Oz *edit* ah heck... there is only two more paragraphs... might as well post the entire article Finavera's plan calls for four wave-energy buoys at the site. The company hopes to eventually generate enough electricity to supply about 150 homes in Neah Bay each year. FERC's five-year conditional license allows Finavera to continue working on the project. But it can't start construction until it gets more permits from other government agencies.

Unfortunately, the newstory is a few days old, and the Daily World's archives are not free, or else I would link to it. |
