And I agree, I think there needs to be a Major NATIONAL ALTERNATIVE RESEARCH CENTER, funded and out of reach of the oil companies, only way real research will happen. Also, I have no problem with more drilling, if you think I do, but I'm a realist, the oil companies will sit on their $1.50 A YEAR, 10 year lease, just like they do now, they have hundreds and hundreds of leases now they aren't drilling on. I'm for selling the leases for more money, with a demand that drilling be started within a certain amount of years, but that won't sell leases, they will still wait, they will just buy when they are ready to drill. |

(And, I wonder if these promises by the current political candidates to "invest" in alternative energies could fulfill this. Due to the nature of politics, probably not. They keep saying "change, change, change." It makes me wonder)

Also, did you know that the US government is spending huge sums of money on fuel, refined and bought in the Middle East, to keep Iraq and Afghanistan going, thats not going to stop until we get out of the stupidness of Iraq, we buy fuel for us, and substidize fuel for the Iraqis, thats a huge amount of spending by our own government on foreign oil. And here is a tidbit for you, the Gulf War cost the US $61 Billion, yet it only cost the US $7 Billion, with in kind replacement and support, with the Saudi's picking up the tab for fuel and supplies, why didn't a plan for Iraq include the Saudi's? |

Eventually I'd have to add more and also batteries and what that entails to go off grid. And as Tripp pointed out. I'd have to put up bars and barbed wire, buy a gun and learn how to use it...... And my house isn't big enough to produce enough food to be self-reliant, so I'd have to leave some time. But I am leading in the direction I'd like others to follow. I'm modeling. I'm practicing what I'm preaching. My worms are doing great. My recycling is full of paper, cardboard, anything on the list. Today I read about a town in Japan that has NO TRASH, and a plant that takes all trash and generates power without burning it.
