I have to disagree on this point. Yes, there's a lot of oil out there, but the American oil companies' shares of that oil are dwindling as more oil assets around the globe are nationalized and the existing fields decline. Furthermore, it will take a decade to see a drop of that oil, so they'll start the process forthwith. In 10 years who knows what assets they'll still have, outside of the declining fields that they have here in the States and offshore, so I think that they'd be pretty motivated.

Human are foundering because of their own greed and ignorance. To screw up ecosystem because 98% of the population refuses to give up some of their cush lifestyle is a complete and utter joke. This is not simply about saving some animals. It is all about wrecking ecosystems that support us 100%. This does not even take into account the trashing of a Wildlife Refuge. Does anyone here even know what level of protection a Wildlife Refuge affords? You allow intrusion into that level of protection and you open up the floodgates to other refuges, preserves, seashores etc....

IMO people in this country need to suffer a bit more before they are allowed to start making assine decisions like drilling everywhere possible.

There is one. It's called the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. They have done a lot. The problem now is fielding the technology. Poke around.

You can spend a lot of words insisting that the government do this or that. Right now the government approach is to encourage drilling and declaring the other side as the source of the problem. In the intervening decades, it might be more productive to figure out what you can do yourself.

One worry about your last statement. It puts people in one political party and animals in the other. That misstep excludes solutions that help humans and everything else (e.g. solar, wind, conservation, etc. etc. etc.) If you can come up with a specific example where something helps people but results in wildlife having to be destroyed, then I will be shocked.

As opposed to Algore and his carbon credit scam company. At least Texas will have an ACTUAL positive impact.

Now California can cry about having to buy clean energy from Texas and getting raped on prices.

I think its a good idea, but you may or may not know about Perry and the damn Republicans in this state, they don't do anything unless they get a cut of something. Perry has been trying to sell our toll roads to foreign companies and has been pushing for an essentially Super NAFTA toll highway in the state.

And Republicans held back an initiative that was pushed to give property owners a break on taxes by using actual selling prices of homes as the basis of what homes are worth for tax purposes, as opposed to arbitrarily basing them on so called assessments that make no sense. There is much much more they are doing to keep power in this state, and its only the leadership thats corrupt, there are some very good Republican electors, even they are hindered in trying to clean up the corruption Bush left behind.

You don't spend money on things you like when you have more serious issues that need action now.

Man who would you have run it? The answer is a constitutional form of government not more of the same. There is a reason why America was called the greatest country in world. We were a republic, had a limited form government, and its people were the freest in the world. Nationalizing everything and more regulation is not the answer. We have tons of regulation, how has it worked out for us?

Less regulation hasn't worked out for us at all, its caused over $2 TRILLION in damages so far, a mortgage fallout, a huge debt and given us a corrupt government, I think I'd like the regulations put back.

The U.S. populace is much to ignorant to make choices for themselves anymore. They are to infatuated with BS dreams of grandeur and American Idol type tv shows and can't be bothered with learning. In their own words, they don't have the time. I agree, keeping up on the payments for that hot car, jet skis, nail appointments etc. can be taxing to ones bank account....
