What's right isn't always popular; what's popular isn't always right. There is nothing in the US constitution that allows the federal government to get involved in local regulation of abortion, period. I don't care if it's a good idea or not, it's unauthorized by the constitution. There is nothing in the US constitution that allows the federal government to regulate public schools. It isn't there. The entire Rural Electrification Administration, now part of the agriculture department, was completely unconstitutional. The US government is unauthorized to perform most of the functions into which it has inserted itself these days. And it doesn't matter how many people in a poll say it should be otherwise unless their representatives at the state or federal level take action to change the constitution.

FWIW, when I first heard about the sewage plant name it was funny for about a nanosecond and then just struck me as more misspent energy. There is serious work to do in our country. Also, I'm sad that between BC and GWB my kids have grown up thinking their the president is either a slut or a buffoon.

I want some dignity back. For all of us.

Abortion. Another delicious topic. Who knew threads about sewage plants and NRA stickers could be so much fun.

It figures that something like this would happen in California... "The land of fruits and nuts"!

I agree completely with you, that what is popular is not always right. The tyranny of the majority can be very oppressive! I don't agree that all the items you mention are patently unconstitutional however.
