Friends: 0 | "Practical" is the key word here. What GHG reductions are practical at having a desired effect on climate outcomes? I don't place a lot of confidence that any currently considered efforts (such as Waxman-Markey) will have a meaningful effect on climate outcomes. Certainly, projections are that they won't. That said, I am all for reducing fossil fuel use when and where possible, particularly when such reductions have other beneficial consequences (i.e., reduced pollution, reduced reliance on imported energy, cost reductions, potential ocean acidification issues, etc). That is why I drive a Prius, use CFLs, etc. |
