Prius at Invoice

Received the following email from Earl Stewart Toyota in Palm Beach Florida.

2010 3rd Generation Prius Sale!

Dear Mark,

You are invited to a silent sale on the 2010 Prius at Earl Stewart Toyota. For the remainder of November 2009, all of our new, in-stock 2010 Prius will be sold at dealer invoice. And, as always at Earl Stewart Toyota, no Dealer Fees. Please note that dealer invoice is not our dead cost. We're still making a profit. Please see below for more details.

This is a legitimate sale. A legitimate sale must have a legitimate reason. We are looking to close our year strong by clearing out our new Prius inventory. This will help us earn more Prius. The number of cars of each model that Toyota allocates to a dealer is based on how fast they sell their inventory. By having this sale, we will earn more Prius going in to the New Year. We will benefit by having a larger inventory of cars that are normally sold at MSRP. This is the strategy that has made us the largest seller of Prius in the Southeast United States.

Here is a current list of our new Prius inventory with MSRP and sale price listed. Again, these prices are plus tax and tag only - no dealer fees or phony markups. These cars are physically here. Looking for SoCal dealer that will go below MSRP

I just found a buyer for my 05 Prius, and am looking at getting a new 2010 by the end of January. I've been to several dealers in the past few months around SoCal inland Empire; Hemet, Moreno Valley, Indio, and Riverside, and none seemed interested in selling for less than MSRP. Does anyone know of a Dealer that actually will give me a good deal?

Dianne's Prius 2010 Lease deals

Gang, a lot of my clients are leasing Prius. Allow me to mention a few lease deals to see if anyone might want a super low lease - great terms - reach me! No hassle or games. These are quoted for those with better than average credit.

Prius II w/ mats set = $319. a month + tax for 36 months (12K annual) with $825 cash drive offs. (add a few bucks more for the pearl white paint choice)

Prius III w/ mats set, standard features = $329. + tax for 36 months (12K annual) with $825 drive offs. (add a few bucks more for the pearl white paint choice)

Prius III with NAV/USB and mats = $365. + tax for 36 months (12K annual) with $850 drive offs. (add a few bucks more for the pearl white paint choice)

Prius IV with NAV/USB/Safety Connect and mats = $412. + tax for 36 months (12K annual) with $950 drive offs. (add a few bucks more for the pearl white paint choice)

Please keep in mind these are examples, and your mileage needs can vary. You can do a 15K - 20K- 25K annual lease and increase your payments as needed. You can also buy a sunroof car or a V package car and increase payments as well. These are just good examples of my lease deals right now, 11/16/09!

Since credit varies, and some folks prefer a longer lease with lower payments, I'll be happy to calculate yours based on YOUR situation .. so call me or drop by and grab a new 2010 Prius at some very good deals OR lease terms!

SLLC vs "the green stuff"

A friend and I stopped by Boch Toyota this afternoon, to see if
we could pick up a gallon of pink SLLC to top up a Prius's
overflow tank. The parts department was closed, but the service
department had a service writer sitting at a desk and we asked
if there was any way they could just sell us a jug of coolant
anyway. The answer unfortunately was "no" because they're not
set up for retail sales without the official parts desk being
open, but the second half of the answer was the real shocker:

"There's a NAPA right down the road, why not just get some coolant
there..." and a strong implication that "any old type" would be
fine for a Prius.

We stood there dumbfounded, after a *Toyota guy* failed to actively
recommend the Toyota fluid that would not only be the right thing
for the car, but bring in revenue for his own shop. After my fairly
deep study of coolant and radiator chemistry in the 100k writeup
I just couldn't think of what to say to this guy in response to
his suggestion that we go right ahead and screw up the cooling
system in a perfectly functional Prius. Unbelievable.

Yes, today we reaffirmed that the moniker "Botch Toyota" is well-earned
by these people. If you're Boston-local you've probably heard all
their "we're on the Automile in Norwood, COME ON DOWN!" obnoxiousness.
Well, if you do, that's the kind of competence you can expect.

How much advanced warning?

I have a II on order. The dealer told me 2 to 8 weeks and it has now been 6 weeks. I spoke to them about a week and a half ago and they told me the order was "on track" for the 11/19 estimated delivery date on the sales order.

How far in advance does the dealer know when the car will be delivered? How soon when they know will they let me know?

I just wanted to let anyone in Southern California know that I have found a fantastic dealer. Toyota of San Diego has treated me better than any dealer in the past. What they say, they do. The price was right on my new Prius and they have gone above and beyond the call of duty as far as "after sales" service.
If you are in the market you can ask for Van Holloway or Manny Portillo and tell them Mike Adoue sent you. You won't be sorry.:)

New base prices are:

T3 -�19090
T4 - �20710
T Spirit - �22130

Which is an increase of �700 for T3 and T4, and �900 for T-Spirit. I assume this was because of the weak pound against the euro.

Changes in Price Paid since Oct 18 MSRP increase?

I asked this in the Main Forum and didn't get any answers, so I thought I'd ask here in the Pricing section. I also might have asked this too quickly in the other place:

What have folks actually been paying since the MSRPs/invoices on Gen III Prii increased on Oct 18? (Cars.com reports invoice on the Prius II increased $156 while MSRP was going up $400.)
Are actual prices reflecting the invoice increases, the MSRPs, something in between, or maybe something else?

As anyone who has read my posts probably has figured out, I've been waiting for prices to come down under MSRP, esp. here in GST region, where I have found no give under the old price regime.
Now I wonder if I outfoxed myself by waiting until prices actually went up . . . .
