Greetings gang.........
I'm one of many who are investigating Winter tires, and I want to buy dedicated 'Winter' wheels for my V............
I think the OE wheels are 17" x 7" w/ 50mm offset, correct???

I want to go w/ a slightly narrower & taller 205/50 winter tire vs the OE 215/45, and am having a devil of time trying to find any selection of 7" wide 17' wheels.
7.5" wheel width seems to be the order of the day, at least on the many I looked at @ tirerack.com.
Before I waste any more time, I was wondering if
Wider wheel + narrower tire = or something like that....

Comment & suggestions always appreciated................

I've found several distributors that sell mud flaps for the 2004-2009, but I don't know enough about the Prius series to know if these would also fit the 2010 and the sellers haven't updated their websites yet, or if there's been a design change to the cars that require different size or style mud flaps...
My only concern is it's supposed to be hard-wired to the battery (which is in the trunk) -- any ideas on where to access a 60A/12V line under the hood?

My eldest son is so enthusiastic about playing football this year that he keeps volunteering to do skirmishes with other teams and wants to go "training" to the park on the off days.

He has even gone so far as to volunteer to be a helper to the professional women's team here.

This is all well and good and you can imagine my pride when the other kids smack him on the rump, mustering all the testosterone they can at the tender age of 14, and call him "the mini fridge".

The problem comes because we live in Oregon. It rains here. A lot.

Coupled with the fact that football is an outdoor sport, this leaves me with the task of transporting a 6 ft. something 210 lb. Hunk of dripping wet, muddy, sweaty, happiness.

You can well imagine my dilemma. I don't have a leather interior, or this would be an easy fix. I thought about laying him down in the back, but I'm sure the coppers are around every corner, my license plate in hand, just waiting for me to slip up.

What's a mom to do?

Do you think I could get some all weather seat covers?

I recently found out one of my relative is in the LED business. After talking with him about my prius, he said he can build a headlight enclosure replacement with LEDs.
If there are enough interests besides myself, I might start to buy some parts for R&D and have him manufacture it.

My goal is a direct replacement of current halogen lamp enclosure using all the same harness. Of course you wouldn't get the auto leveling and it would only be for "Off Road Use" Only.

I should be getting my new red prius in about a week, so its time to order new wheels and tires.

I think I will follow people on this board and get the motegui sp10. Then the question is tires. I'm leaning toward 205/50R17, This is closer to the original tire diameter and I think 50 will give me a slightly more comfortable and quiet ride. What do you think? Are you happy with the 215/45s? What tire should I get? I was thinking of the Continental ContiExtremeContact DWS, or would you go with a Michelin. I'm in Austin and it doesn't snow (if it does I don't drive, people hit you) but we have some cold days. I think that means I need all season. I want good handling in the rain and dry with a quiet tire. Thanks for your help, this board has been great.

Also what is the best way to sell the oem wheels and tires. I assume many of you have been through this already.

Thanks
Ed

I just today put a deposit on a 2010 Prius, my first Prius! I am going with the basic model, #2, with no options. But my daughter convinced me to have the dealer install a sunroof - another $1200. Now I am having second thoughts, having read about some problems with aftermarket sunroofs leaking. My husband seems to think that the structural integrity of the roof might be compromised with an aftermarket sunroof. I would like to get the opinions of more experienced Prius owners, especially 2010 owners.

Of course I have no idea what type of sunroof it is but they (the salesmen) didn't seem to think it was any big deal, said they do them all the time. Thoughts and opinions? Many thanks

One thing I dearly miss on my VW New Beetle was the really cool dashboard with the blue and red lighting. The Prius has a really 1987 look to it with the washed-out green digital numbers...and it's so WAY monochrome that it practically puts me to sleep with boredom when I look at it.

Has anyone ever looked into how the thing is illuminated? Would it be possible to somehow change the color of the different displays by placing gel films in front of the readouts? Even having a different color for my gas and speed would be helpful...and make it all easier and more enjoyable to read.

Sometimes I'll hit my steering wheel buttons just to break up that 1987 LED green monotony!
