Has anyone else noticed that opening and changing the Gen III engine air filter doesn't seem as intuitive as it was on the Gen II?

Apparently, when the time comes to change the filter, if you want to do it yourself, it appears that you'll have to actually loosen (or even remove) some hoses.

I checked with the "do it yourself" portion of the user's manual, and it doesn't even discuss changing the engine air filter -- note: at the same time it does give a good insruct for changing the cabin filter (very surprising) :o.

Am I correct in assuming that changing this filter is now more difficult?
Has anyone done it yet, and can give direction on the procedure?

I installed a 2DIN aftermarket stereo and in the process I had to remove the dash to install the GPS antenna.

After putting it all together, I get a consistent 'Check Hybrid System' warning which won't go away. Also the Airbag Light is on.

I did remove the right window pillar to get at the right speaker, but I never unplugged anything in there or touched the airbag. Does anyone know why this would happen and how to reverse it?

Does the system need to have its airbag switch reset? I seriously doubt I damaged anything in the installation. I was very careful.

Thanks for the help!!

I got my V/ATP Oct. 10. It has 1900 miles on the meter by now.

This moring, when I drove on a school campus at about 5MPH, it suddenly showed "PCS" (pre-collision brake system) warning on the display. The Nav. screen was replaced by the message in a rectangular frame. I could still drive the car. I then drove it very slowly toward the parking lot, which is 100 yards away. Before I reached the parking, the warning disappeared.

Has anyone seen this before? Should I be concerned and go to the service department?

I brought along the owner's manual for reading material on a recent trip and stumbled upon these two items...
1. Under maintenance and care, page 398, it states to not apply wax to the surface of the lights that it may damage the lenses!
2. Also listed under maintenance and care, page 401, do not use glass cleaner to clean the rear window as it may cause damage to the heater wires. It says to just use lukewarm water and wipe the glass parallel with the heater wires. **To those who have tinted windows, carry on but make sure you are using a non-ammonia based window cleaner!:)

I changed oil last night. Broke one of the plastic pop rivets. Put in 4 quarts of oil. Then backed the car out of the shed and into the garage 150 feet away. Went to the auto part store and puchased a bag of pop rivets. Tonight when I backed the car out of the garage to finish the oil change the ICE start rough. Drove the car to the shed. Turned off the car and setup the ramps. The car started rough again. Replaces the broken Pop Rivet and topped off the oil to 4.4 qt. After topping off the oil the ICE starts up smooth. The ICE never started rough before and after topping off the oil the ICE has starts smooth.

The question.

Is it possible to effect how smooth the ICE starts by changing the oil level?

The car had sat for 1 week at the airport while I was out of town and when I returned, the light came on when started. I checked the gas cap and no change, so tomorrow the new Prius sees the doctor. Only 2 weeks of driving and already a trip to the dealer. Any thoughts? I will let you know what they find.

In early October 2009, on a trip to Cape Cod, I got a flat on I95. It happened at night, naturally. The low tire pressure warning light illuminated on the dash panel for a few seconds, which was followed by a loud rumbling noise (I was going about 65 mph). I pulled over, called USAA road service, which dispatched a service vehicle promptly, and I was on my way in less than an hour. It was the left rear tire that went flat.
Next day I took the car to the Midas in Hyannis. The folks there took the flat from the trunk, removed the bad tire from the rim and said that it wasn’t repairable. The tire mechanic showed me a pencil eraser-sized piece of steel that he found inside the tire carcass, adding that he had not seen anything like it before. They had no tire in stock to replace the one that failed. When I asked the manager how much I owed him, he said “No charge.” Thank you Midas!
I then went to Hyannis Toyota. They did not have any Yokohama Avid S33 tires in stock ("too new to have in tock yet" said the person I dealt with), so they put on a Goodyear Integrity 195/65R15. Total damages came to $133.95.
I called Yokohama customer service to see if the failed tire was covered under warranty. The very pleasant person I spoke to said that, based on my description of the event, it probably was not. In any case, he said Yokohama would send a plastic bag to for me to use to return the tire (at their expense) for inspection by one of their technicians. I returned the tire to Yokohama and, even though they said it wasn’t covered under warranty, they sent a check for $54.50 (the cost of the replacement tire excluding other charges) to me.

Bottom line: it’s no fun to get a flat on an Interstate, but I’m pleased by the friendly attention and responsive service I received from Yokohama Tire (and from the nice people at Midas in Hyannis, MA).

I dropped off my 2010 Prius for a Brake inspection, I have had cars with ads and traction control, but I feel in a quick stop the abs kicks in to quickly and that the car requires a longer period of time to stop in a sudden situation. It almost feels that the abs kicks in to quickly. The dealer informed me the checked the brakes and they are fine, everything is as it should be according to the dealer servicing center. I purchased the car April 2009, and the car has 7800 miles on it. Has anyone else had this experience? While I love the car, I really feel you need to be exceptionally mindful of the brakes?? Anyone??

Do you think the bolt was just tightened too much or is this still an issue?

My car is about to hit the port and I'm thinking I should pay the difference in price for the cargo net and get it from the dealer so that they install it and I can hold them liable for it if it happens in my car.

Can any others who have the net at this point post if their panels are uneven?
