I've been consistently having problems with the voice activation on one particular command - "Phone". Each time I say "phone" the voice command system activates "Satellite Radio". These don't sound remotely close, but it happens consistently. It's very frustrating especially when it is the only way to access phone numbers not in the recent contacts list while driving.

I've tried altering my voice level, I've changed it to "Telephone", I've just used the "F" sound....but 9 out of 10 times I get "Satellite Radio".

Has anyone had this problem? Thanks for whatever help and suggestions you've got!

Hey gang,

I'd love to see pics of users who have aftermarket stereos in a gen III (2010).

I personally don't need a DVD or GPS for my car. I simply want BT calling and Iphone/Ipod capabilities. I'm just concerned about the head unit will change the aesthetic of the dash.

Any pics, tips would be appreciated.

I recently took delivery of Gen III Prius V that I love. The car drives even better than I recall from a fairly quick test drive while the electronics package (I have the navigation system but not the AT package) compares favorably to two much more expensive European cars that I own.

My only challenge so far has been with my ATT Blackberry Bold / 9000 and the car's bluetooth phone system. The problem is that although the Blackberry links readily to the system, the in-dash phone keypad lights up and then shuts off (goes dark) every few minutes -- ie, sometimes I can use the dash / navigation screen keypad to make calls and sometimes I cannot. This happens only while I am driving.

The weird thing is that the Blackberry is linked at all times to the bluetooth system (regardless of whether the dash keypad is dark) and I can always make a call via the system by using the keypad on the handset. I can also receive calls on the system at all times -- regardless of whether the in-dash keys are lit.

I believe the car's bluetooth system is fine given that my wife's iPhone 3G links perfectly while the Blackberry in question has always linked without a problem to a variety of Motorola ear-pieces that I have used.

Any insight / experience that someone could offer to this phone nuisance would be much appreciated.

I read this online today and thought I'd pass it along and ask, "IS THIS TRUE"?

".... Coleman told Priuschat that USB integration will only be availalbe with the Navigation package that can be added to the upper level Prius trim levels: III, IV and V. The good news is that early Prius buyers can get the USB functionality added at the dealership (for a fee, of course). The bad news: the $1,800 nav package will cost more when USB is added......"

So, I have an early Prius with Nav (pkg IV). Can I then get the USB upgrade for free?

It's been reported that the radio reception is poor (unless you are in the middle of a big city) - but this takes the cake... We went to Laguna Beach - a cute city in So Cal... Every other car I have driven gets a decent signal on the main stations. My poor Prius pulled so much static, I couldn't listen to FM at all. AM was not much better (which is surprising).

Sad.....

I have been very disappointed with the factory installed iPod integration on my Prius 2010 (with Nav) purchased 10/20/2009. Most of the reasons that make it entirely unusable have been well outlined in the previous discussions, but I wanted to add one more point.

For those who enjoy audio books on their iPod, the Prius integration is particularly insulting. Every time the vehicle is turned off, the Prius looses the book mark and goes back to the beginning of the chapter. Fast-forwarding to the time you were at when you stopped the vehicle is entirely impractical (it would require you first to write down the time in your audio books before you turned the car off, then, when you restarted the car, to tediously fast-forward to where you left off).

I called the Toyota Customer Experience Center (800 331-4331) to inquire about this "feature" and they told me "the engineers had designed it this way", but that if "enough people complained about it they would consider changing it".

So, if you enjoy audio books on your iPod, please call the number above and let them know that you prefer not to go back to the beginning of the chapter each time you get in the car!!!!!

I see in the manual there are is a hands-free phone shortcut key.

I would just like to be able to say "Call Susie Q on Cell" -- which I was able to do with my cheapie hands-free Costco speakerphone in my old car because my Windows Mobile 6.1 phone supports this. It seems that using the shortcut key I could give the command "Dial XXX (name)" and then maybe have to choose which phone number if there are multiples -- but I can't figure out what key that might be.

Does anyone know what the shortcut key is?

Hi,

I'm at 250 miles on a 2010 Prius, still trying to figure out a lot of the electronic display stuff and the Owner's Manual comes up short in places. In particular, I am confused about the Best Consumption display. It was working fine and I figured out how to set it, but now, whenever I check there, it only displays a couple of dashes - as if it's not computing it, or hiding the information somewhere. Can anyone help with this?
