I don't post as much as I used to, but I lurk a lot and trust me that I'm around even if you don't see me...

I woke up and donned my finest party hat to celebrate my 45th birthday today: was actually shocked to see how many of us there are with the same birthday!

Happy Birthday.

Then there are the birthdays of our significant others. Today is my wife's birthday. We're going out to dinner tonight. Her present? The family Prius that arrived last week!

After that, what more could she want.

Oh and being the big-hearted guy that I am, I went out to National Auto last night and bought her some car wash, a brand new washing mitt and nice microfiber drying towel. Am I a gem or what?

Yeah but don't let Bigdaddy fool you. He's posting purely because he can log on using any one of his multiple identities at any time: what is known as 'hybrid' posting. It should be noted that, like Cybil, he can not assume two identities at the same time; this is what is known as "mild hybrid" posting. It is not as efficient as other schizophrenics who have the ability to propel threads with a combination of identities. This type of membership, though growing, represents less than 1% of all members on the board and has stagnated in recent months.

Registering multiple IDs does not cost money here at Priuschat, but does represent an investment in time and labor on the part of the poster. Recent studies have shown, however, that the upfront investment exceeds the amount of time and labor savings seen over the lifetime of the member. Given the statistical numbers, it would make more sense to register one conventional username rather than use the hybrid approach. "It just doesn't make sense at this time to register mutliple user names," according to Dr. Evan Fusco, Priuschat Moderator, "when you could more easily use a known and proven posting technique to achieve similar results." The only exception would be in stop-and-go posting where the ability to switch between usernames actually works to the hybrid poster's advantage seeing savings after 10,000 posts over a period of 7 years.

Hybrid posters have recently been the target of angry board members. This type of behavior has been dubbed "post rage" and is becoming increasingly prevalent. Some suggest that the behavior is the result of the hybrid poster being smug in their multiple-persona world and is therefore warranted. Others are simply annoyed because more than once the silence of the poster (what they call 'stealth') has startled them. One thing is for certain: older more traditional members will need to find a way to adapt if they want to be able to compete.

As the Moderator of the cadre in BigDaddy's head, I want to point out that a few of the birthday personalities are quite fragile, especially CornBoy. He's been sitting in the corner, rocking back and forth, muttering "ethanol, ethanol, ethanol..." for about 3 months now. And Spud has taken to drinking homemade vodka. I believe that any additional mocking of the lesser players will force Anton, the scary puppet-looking killer, to be unleashed. We know where you live...

This post threw me off big time at first 'cause my b-day is tomorrow and I will be 45! I thought maybe I typoed in the wrong date or something!
