Japan:

Release date: 11th Nov 2006
20GB - ¥59,800
60GB - retailer sets price

North America:

Release Date: 17th Nov 2006
20GB - US$499 / Cdn$549
60GB - US$599 / Cdn$659

Europe/Australia:

Release Date: 17th Nov 2006
20GB - E499
60GB - E599

both prices include VAT

OMG, the PS3 controller is crazy. It has 6 degrees of motion allowing you to tilt the controller to move the object on the screen (e.g. if you're flying a plane)

I've been waiting for this because I know it's going to torch Xbox 360.... However, given Sony's history, I'm not putting any faith into the price until it actually hits the shelves....

Funny, the gap between PC and console is narrowing...

Edit: if those ARE the prices, I'm sure they'll be a LOT of happy parents out there....

Ouch, that's a budget breaker. I suppose that if I were in the market for a Blu Ray player then it's not a bad deal... but I have no idea if I wan to be in the market for Blue Ray yet.

I wonder if they'll have enough supply for launch day.

I think that was MSFT's biggest F-up.

If I were Sony, I'd find a way to make the PS3 $200 and put Xbox in the GRAVE.

2 million extra until the end of the year
and another 2 million until 31st March 2007

I got the prices off the Sony Press Conference Live (streaming) 1 hour ago.

I'm definitely getting one. I've gotten pretty much every console since the original Nintendo. No reason to change now!

Of course, with kids and law school, I haven't played my 360 for more than 30 minutes total.

I would be an Xbox360 fanboy, but my wife got addicted to Zuma so I don't get to play it as much as I want. Hopefully the Nintendo Wii will have something to distract her so I can reclaim the 360.
