Question everything.

the "next poster" game

Only three words

Black or White?

Two words

Word

What's up with that? Why do these thread have multi thousands of views and replies?

Are they at least as relevant as the Tour de France?

Am I just a dumb ass who's missed out on something really exciting and important? (Most likely answer, but probably incorrect in this casel)

Aren't you even curious?

I used to read those threads, but some of them (especially Question Everything) had me in such stitches I had to stop or risk a hernia.

On a more important note, do you sometimes have the urge to reply to a thread, but resist because you know nobody else will get it but you? That happens to me a lot.

And even WAY more important... have you ever tried a mojito? (I did for the first time last week. WOW)

Some people enjoy having fun by displaying their clever wit.

Some people consider the height of wit calling Democrats "DEMONcrats"; some of us are more subtle.

Those of us who fall into the latter category like those threads.

Well, I think you're missing out, pogo, but that's really your call. "Exciting and important" might be pushing it, but they're fun and friendly without the usual vitriol. Try it, you might like it.

I've never been in them either. Mostly they're a ploy to run up site revenue. Ad served how many times to get that many posts?

Also, the participants use those to run up their post count so they can legitimize their other posts. Having come from Bob with 1925 prior posts, this probably means something.

If I have 2900 posts under my belt, I somehow fit in here and fitting in here makes me part of a group and being part of a group helps me be less depressed about myself.

Stuff like that.. more power too them, and I hope Danny ends up with enough to buy a hummer from the ad revenue.

Huh. I never thought of them as either revenue generators or poster legitimizers. I thought they were just for fun. I guess I'm less legit than I thought.

To the point of the thread, i've never participated in those threads... obviously a lot of people find them enjoyable, but i would rather spend my time elsewhere

I started "Word" as a parody of the "only" threads but have never read it or added to it. I think Fred's has many threads more worthy of not reading.
