Somehow I came across this article from www.coastaletech.com where you can purchase a kit to add to your Prius to operate in an electric only mode. The article says it iis a factory option but not currently available in N. America although the the programming for it is still included in the computers that control the Hybrid system. Has anyone had any experience with this kit that costs 45.00 plus shipping? Would it affect the warranty? Any info would be apprecited. Guss

There are many, many posts relating to this mod. A quick search will give you hours of reading.

In direct answer to your questions, yes, many people on this forum have installed either the factory EV switch or the CoastalTech mod. The programming is still there in the U.S. models. There has been at least one documented case where the EV mod caused a warranty issue, so be aware of this risk.
