I have canon printers and DVmini video and really like them. I'll be replacing my cheap Fuji and Nikon digital cameras with a Canon when I can afford it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() I went to Best Buy last night and got it around 6pm and in just a few hours I had figured out the very basics of working it. I love the 12x zoom lens and the Image stabilization on the camera. I took some pics of the dogs playing around in the backyard and this camera will be great for getting close ups of the girls as they are so low to the ground and are fast moving. It was hard for me before to get very close to them before with other cameras as they always wanted to jump up on me and kiss me when I was trying to get a close up of them. Now I can do it from very far away and they don't even know I am taking their pic. I have to get one of the Dummy books so I can learn more about lighting and all about the ISO speeds and shadows and stuff like that so I can take full advantage of all the great things on this camera. The best thing is that I can just pop the SD card into my laptop and immediately download all the pics.

So if I only run out of yellow, I only replace the yellow, not the entire color tank. If I use magenta or blue more often, only that tank is replaced. The black tank is also separate, but I think a lot of printers have that now. The tanks are also clear so I can see how much ink is left in each tank. My Car: 2005 Prius Package: #3 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | My experience with home photo printers has been disappointing, to say the least. In my experience, it's better to just take your memory card to one of those print-it-yourself photo machines that seem to be all over the place these days (i.e. in photo processing places, but also in drug stores and other places that develop film). Perhaps I just haven't kept up to date with technology, but last time I looked, home-developed pictures never looked as good as those from the machine, the tended to fade relatively quickly, and the economics of the whole thing never seemed like it was such a great deal. For $0.19 (or less) per print, I'd rather go to the machines. If you don't mind the wait, you can also get excellent photo processing from many of the online companies for even less (e.g. Snapfish, Shutterfly, etc.) |

I go with Snapfish, upload my images and tell them to print them at a local chain pharmacy. I usually get an email within 3 hours telling me they are ready for pickup. That looks like a great little camera! I love Canons, just replaced my (film) AE1 circa 1985 with a Digital Rebel Xsi. I've got a bit of a learning curve there, too! Have fun with it! Jim |

My Car: 2004 Prius Package: #9 Nominated 1 Time in 1 Post TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 24 | Agreed...don't do your own printing. It's much more expensive and the quality won't approach what you can get in 1-hour at Wal-mart or Walgreen for $0.15 per. I bought my wife an S2 IS about 3 years ago and recommended the S5 to my sister in law....the S5 is a nice step up and is a very nice consumer level digicam that should serve you very well for several years. Be sure you get your resolution and such set up how you want it. |

My prior experience has just been taking pics with the "Oh, this is a pretty pic" kind of mentality. I really want to learn the hobby as I have always loved and had a great appreciation for great photographs. I signed up on 2 Canon Photography forums and one of them is specifically for the Canon S5 IS so I hope to learn a lot from them and get myself one of those Dummy books. |
