So, can I ask how this draft works?

I understand that we can pre-rank players and then they are selected via the automatic draft, but how does the draft work? Does it go by position? In other words, is the QB drafted first, followed by RB, followed by WRs, etc? Or does it just go by the players we rank first? For example, should I put 4 (or 10 or whatever) QBs at the top of my list to ensure that I get a QB? Is there then a danger that I would recruit 4 QBs and have no RBs? Or does it smartly allocate players to make sure I have players at all positions?

I looked a bit for this information on the site, but I couldn't find it. Maybe I'm just blind.

Good question...I've never done the auto draft. Are we sure to get a kicker and a defensive team if they're ranked low? Could we end up with 5 RBs?

I think the teams will be assigned a draft order and the each teams will be assigned player for each position according who is available and your rankings. You will get all positions filled.

OK. But, say that I want to have a really good RB and a really good QB. I understand that I have to make a choice there, but say I want it to allocate a good RB first, but then I want it to allocate a good QB before it allocates a second RB to me. Is there a way to do this? Obviously, I have no way of knowing at this point which other players you guys are going to select and what order the draft is going to be. For that reason, I might put my 10 top choices for RB first, but if everyone else is choosing QBs or WRs, I don't want to end up with 5 great RBs and the third string QB for the 49ers (or maybe I do - I shouldn't give away my strategy yet ).

You are putting A LOT of thought into this .

Maybe the way to do it is to alternate QB then RB on your rankings so that you have a higher potential of getting a RB then a QB rather than two RBs in a row. Not sure if this will work though.

Hey - since my football knowledge is severely lacking, I need to make up for it by thinking deeply about the rules.

This makes sense, perhaps. So, does this mean that when my number comes up during the draft I will just draft the highest ranked available player on my list? Does it only skip over that player when I've maxed out the players I'm allowed to have at that position?
