If it were burritos' son which did the same thing tomorrow, yeah, I'd think, "karma's a bitch."

Hatred rears its ugly head in another one of burritos' threads.
Karma must have really been a bitch to make him the way he is.

Wow, I feel the love.

Look, anytime someone drives any car like a loon, if they die, it's sad, at least for those who knew him/her. If they kill someone while doing it, it's a tragic loss.

We should not take any kind of joy in another's misfortune.

Now the roads WILL have one less maniac and a one less car that spews crazy CO2 at that.
Your wife's right, it IS a terrible incident. That poor Lamborghini, what a waste of such a beautiful car.

I'm not one to squelch people expressing their opinions, but I hope the media doesn't broadcast the sentiments of this thread. We're not exactly going to come out smelling like roses.

I think there is an element of "class-ism" here. As someone mentioned earlier, I too wonder if the reaction would have been the same if they were driving an econobox? Anyway, let's hope the guy's family can deal with the tragedy.

I can imagine the news item: "Prius owner group cheers over death of driver after tragic accident in a sports car".

Nice.

As Hobbit and others have said, going really fast in a fancy car is not the only way to die while driving. I don't have a statistic for this, but I'd guess that the overwhelming majority of fatal traffic "accidents" are somebody's fault. That doesn't mean they all deserve death though. It means there's a huge problem with our transportation infrastructure and our driver's licensing requirements.

I'd tend to agree with comments that the OP wouldn't have brought it up if it were a clunker instead of a Lamborghini.

And SPE, did you seriously just condemn burritos for his comment and then wish death on his son in the same post? Classy! I know you guys have some FHOPol-style venom to share, but leave it in there, please!

Nothing in my post can be construed that I would wish death upon burritos' son - only that IF the same thing happened . . . Karma. And it can't be construed as a personal attack either.

So what if there is nothing political about the OP. We are still in FHOP and . . .

I had one very close call with disaster due to youthful stupidity. It can be cured without death being necessary.
After working for the Public Defender, you'll find that your 'customers' generally get away with their bad acts, somewhere between 8 out of 9 ... to 9 out of 10 different times (turning on whether you're talking murder, burglary, drunk driving, drag racing, drug sales/use, rape, arson, drive by shooting, smash & grab, etc), before they get 'caught'. Sometimes they're caught by fate, sometimes the long arm of the law. Too many innocent victims, nevertheless. But knowing that? Well it's a rare day when the perpetrator 'gets hers/his' on the 1st go-around.

That said, I too have been stupid 2 or 3 times and in 2 or 3 ways. But the odds were in my favor, and wisdom finally began to settle in. I'll bet my next jelly doughnut that there are more BMW's, Porshes, MB's, and Lambos that hurl over the sides of switchbacks than hyperemilers. Read their chats ... how stupid cars are that can't 'handle' well. NO car does well on the unexpected gravel, or oil, unless they're driving cautiously. But . . . if you go through the hairpin turns as though you want to survive a blow out?
