So the lesson to be learned is that if you want medical care at the ER you should go then shoot yourself in the leg or something. | |

Crime rate near nation's worst The Rankings: Canada’s most dangerous cities - Canada - Macleans.ca Actually, the cities of Winnipeg, Saskatoon, and Regina (All three are real armpits anyway) seem to always trade the title of Worst In Canada, and are usually neck-and-neck in the Worst rankings Or the "best" ranking, depending on your perspective B.C. court rejects Robert Pickton's appeal - thestar.com Many people in the PoCo and Greater Vancouver area are still pretty sensitive on that topic The lax enforcement, outrageous criminal rights and freedoms, and the inability to protect yourself all can make for a bad day

Friends: 0 | I passed through Saskatoon, maybe 15 years ago, and it was such a friendly city that I really liked it. Too cold for me to want to live in, but I'm devastated to see it listed high in crime statistics. |

Friends: 12 | No surprise there. Criminals have oodles of rights now, and thanks to the previous Liberal government ramming through the YCJA (Youth Criminal Justice Act) in 2003, you can be under 18, kill someone, and have a clean record once you turn 18 Enforcement has backed WAY off too. So it really is a free-for-all |

Friends: 9 | UPDATE: My son is recovering nicely, the Dr. predicted that keeping him inactive was going to be the biggest challenge and (WHOOT!) he was right. It's hard to see your baby that sick. Good lord, I almost took the heads off of several hospital intake employees and nurses because they were so uncaring during his intake process. My friends and family call it my -Mamma Bear- instinct, when one of my kids is hurt, I get down right mean, I have literally growled at my older son for hurting my younger son accidentally. I didn't mean to.. it just came out!!!! Once control of my faculties returns I apologize and boy am I embarrassed but at the time.... :insert mean bear growling face here: I can't imagine Canadian crime, even in it's worst can compete with American crime. Some crime is born from a lack of social justice and that is something we Americans have in abundance.

Friends: 10 | glad everything worked out for u. as far as our "health" care system, its simply misnamed. it s really "stop-gap" care. iow, only doing enough to keep you alive so you can pay the bill. my SO works for cancer place. she is a financial consultant which is short for "the person who calls insurance carriers to argue with claims reps to make sure the patient gets the benefit that they are entitled to" time is of the essence in her job as most of her patients are in end of life care. frequently, the procedures she is trying to get authorized simply only allows the patient a few more weeks or sometimes only few more days to live. insurance companies know this and will frequently delay coverages hoping to "out wait the patient" all this adds to the cost of medical care. administrative costs are more than quadruple what they should be and in some areas more than 10 fold. many care providers either fold or greatly restrict their policies in order to survive financially. this creates an emergency room where only gravely ill patients have a better than 50% chance of receiving proper medical attention in time. a lot has been said about health care reform and where it needs to go, but the first thing we need to do is ban health insurance coverages for all health maintenance, emergency and preventive care.
