No, the next iPad will be called "the next iPad." Then they will have "the one after that iPad." In the year 2017 "the new iPad" will be the oldest iPad still being supported. By that time there will be:

The new ipad
The next iPad
The one after that iPad
Yet another iPad.
Oh no not another iPad

After that iPads will be discontinued because everyone will wear contact lenses with heads-up displays in them operated from the computer chip we'll all have implanted in our brain. It will project an image of a keyboard in the air, and sense the movement of our fingers as we type in the air. Eyeball movement will take over the function of mice and trackpads. And the natural eye twitching that we all have will cause the computer chip to go berserk, causing train wrecks and launching the world's nuclear arsenals, putting an end once and for all to the pointless experiment that is the human race.

Will it matter?

At the coffeeshop this evening, I took a look around. 100% of the people there were using some type of electronic device, either a notebook or a tablet.

With market penetration that deep, it's inevitable that the abilities these devices offer pushes everything to the next level... kind of like as hybrids become the norm, the guzzlers simply vanish.

3D is so last year. The other day, I saw a video game that was claiming to be 4D. Not sure how that would work with a tablet or computer. Do they send people out to jump out at you during gameplay (as in the actor interaction with the "4D" amusment park presentations). Oh the marketing!

It's similarly confusing to follow software versions. Adobe products used to be chronological numbers before they went to "CS". You have to look up the latest Intel processor numbers to see if it's really an upgrade or sidegrade to another processor. And with Apple OS X...how are you supposed to know which cat is an upgrade from another cat? Since Apple doesn't want to continue with an understandable number system...they could just assign random animal names to them. Or what about Seasame St characters? I'd save out for Cookie Monster...
