My Car: 2007 Prius Package: #3 Touring Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 3 | warning, moderately long post ahead... i love going to the gas station, especially when they're really busy. i got out of a workshop today and decided to fill up, even though i still had 5 pips left, since i'm making a 200 mile trip tomorrow and gas at my destination is more expensive. so i pull into Brookshire's next to a guy with an Infiniti SUV, get out and start putting gas in. now, i love having conversations with people at the pump, especially when it starts with the classic questioning, "what kinda mileage you get in that thing? that's a hybrid, right?" Infiniti driver doesn't say anything at first, but then can't resist as it is taking his car a really long time to fill up. "well, this tank my screen is reading 59.6, but that's only over 315 miles." he smiles and nods and proceeds to turn back to his car. then he stops, he takes his sunglasses off, and slowly turns back to me. "you're getting what?" "about 60 on this tank, but the average driver gets probably closer to 50." "60?!" "yes sir." at this point my car clicks off at 4.4 gallons (oops! 72 mpg for this tank!) and he is still sucking his wallet dry over there. he, moderately dumbfounded, asked where he can get one. I informed him that they are sold, just like any other Toyota, at a Toyota dealership, but he should check out Priuschat.com to help him with the purchasing decision. (yes, I did plug the website) he thanked me as his pump kicked off, we got in our cars and went our separate ways. it's reactions like his that absolutely make my day! |

My Car: 2008 Prius Package: #2 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | After getting an initial 48-50 mpg when first getting my 08 #2, I now consistantly average in the 54-55 mpg range. To make that small increase I've changed driving style, tried to use Prius driving techniques & looked at traffic routes to make that mileage jump. In addition I ride on 44/42 up from the dealer 36. Big difference, in fact had first oil change today-told them not change tire pressure/but they did/had them put air back to where I had it. At least they didn't overfill the oil-checked that too. Close one there. |

My Car: 2008 Prius Package: #5 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | I got my Prius on 7/14; eleven days ago. It had 2 miles on the odometer. I'm getting 55.7 mpg on the first 444 miles. I got the car in warp stealth mode on the way home from the dealer. About 80 percent of those miles were highway. In the two months I spent between placing an order and taking delivery, I read *a lot* of info about the Prius, mostly from Priuschat. This car is amazing. And Priuschat is an amazing resource. |

My Car: 2008 Prius Package: T Spirit Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | To you guys and gals in USA this is going to seem like small potatoes, but to me 61.0 mpg (Imperial Gallons, so US is 50.8 mpg) is fantastic, particularly when I have averaged only 50mpg (41.9 US mpg) beforehand over 3600 miles. As an added bonus, I only ever expected to get 50mp Imp gallon when I bought my Prius, but this is really good for me. My drive was all in one go, 322 miles, 70% highway, balance rural and town roads and I expected the highway to cane my mileage as the Prius does not excel there according to EPA numbers. Wrong ! Keeping the car generally on or about 65mph worked a treat. Now I need another long drive, or a bigger country ! |
