Florida to Maine and back

was on the road the whole month of August in heavily loaded Prius. Florida to Maine, lots of side trips, lots of stop-and-go around DC and NYC and some wide open spaces--well, not much in the NE and hell on 95.

Total cost of gas: $283.11 (includes ½ tank before trip, ½ tank after trip)

Total mileage on trip 4001.6

Average gas price per gallon = $2.913

Highest gas price = $3.359 in Darien, CT

Lowest gas price = $2.49 in Spartanburg, SC

Average miles per gallon for trip = 48.9 with nitrogen in tires

Worst tank = 32.68 mpg (subject to how much gas can be put in tank)

Best tank = 65 mpg (ditto)
