That is better than what the Honda Insight CVT I used to have got (71.2 mpg) for the same route. My 2007 Prius isn't even broken it yet, so I am stoked at what I will be able to do when it is. Life is good! |

In most cases, I would have argued that a seven mile drive might be too short for such impressive numbers since the engine would require warm up for the first few. What's the route like? Can you achieve the same numbers in both directions? |

My Car: 2006 Prius Package: #4 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 6 | it can be done. i got mileage in the mid 70's on my old 7.6 mile commute. my commute now is 5½ miles but the mileage there cant be counted because its a gentle uphill going to work and a gentle downhill coming home. (live a block away from Puget Sound, so it up from there going in any direction) but have done 100+ mpg on a good summer day coming home... |

While there are things I loved about my Insight I am much more impressed with the Prius. To think I can get the same or better mileage in a bigger vehicle using regular tires is great. And electric only mode is so cool. The insight didn't have a GPS or cruise control option. Plus the body style was a bit to out there. But surprisingly there was plenty of room inside for two with luggage. |
