Onboard Computer?

How accurate is the in-dash computer when it comes to calculating MPG?

I am driving from the NH Seacoast out to Cornell University this weekend and taking my parents prius.

Pretty accurate...within 1-2 % of calculated over the life of the car though there tends to be a lot of variation from tank to tank when you compare calculated to the computer's display...mostly due to the funky tank and gas pump variations in fill level.

Pretty damn close. I found it only to be off one mpg.
