My Car: 2005 Prius Package: #1 Nominated 3 Times in 2 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 6 | I don't think it's the oil supply. I think it's the refining capacity. Or perhaps capacity is the wrong term. I think more could be refined. I think the refiners are capping capacity to keep supply low and prices high. A few years back at a meeting of oil execs there was a powerpoint about the breaking point of the consumer. Their research showed that they could raise the price of gasoline to $5.00 a gallon before consumers rebelled. There's be a slow but steady rollercoaster increase to that point. Fine. Let them. It will drive more people to hybrids and increase the demand for EV, alternative fuel, public transportation, living closer to work, etc. AND it will also drive more people to cost cutting living styles, installing PV, solar, wind, home gardening, recycling, etc. |
