Didn't I say something last year about $4.00 gas this year. Look for $5.00 gas next year. A year earlier than my original prediction. I think we'll see steady $5.XX in 2010. |

My Car: 2008 Prius Package: #6 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | Sate College, Pa - May 21, 2008 - for now still $3.79 and holding.. With oil hitting the $130/barrel price today, I am curious as to how soon it will be for the next price increase? Most likely very soon.. These are very dynamic and may I add irregular (CRAZY!!!) times concerning the energy market. Never seen anything like this before and I have driving for a lot of years.. It is like a shark feeding frenzy that is totally out of control.. And further to that it is so very damn confusing. You read or see on the news many articles, view points, etc.. as to what is driving this price spike and it still does not add up for me.. For instance, you hear the OPEC leaders state that they are not going to increase production because there is ample supply in the market place (no shortage) but yet you hear on the news reports that prices are rising out of control because there is a fear of a shortage.. CONFUSED??? Also you get varying opinions as to when we may run out of oil.. Yet, nobody seems to predict with any accuarcy when will there be an actual supply shortage because they don't turely know.. How many years out, etc?? Usually, prices will go up when there is a true (actual) shortage of a given product. I don't see that happening here at this time, still appears to be plenty of supply. What I see is people getting rich quick at our expense.. It costs an oil company approx $20 per barrel for finished refined product and it is selling for you know what. After all this is not a new product that we are dealing with. I am sure the oil companies have a very good handle on how to cost effectively refine the product. What I see is greed here... Whew! - I'll stop venting and get off my soap box for now!!.. I know my rambling will not change the current big picture but I am doing my little part by owning and driving a Eco & Enviro friendly auto as you PCer's are- The Prius!!
