Perhaps if you feel strongly about this, you should write an email or letter to these people:

links? Mobil says it is completely synthetic. What evidence do you have for your statement?

Not trying to be combative, but am truly interested in why you would say this.

No good link, but Googles' cache for Wikipedias' Mobil 1 entry says:

"
Please NOTE; Since reformulated in 2001 Mobil 1 IS NO LONGER a true synthetic. It is now just a highly refined crude based oil, a group III. ...
"

I read a bunch about this years ago, and decided to stay with Mobil 1 even if it is no longer a "true synthetic".

Wikipedia is not authoritative (sorry, Wiki fans). It is subject to biased additions. We need here technical information, preferably from Mobil or a technical lab that has tested the oil.

Agreed. I love Wikipedia, but since virtually anyone can modify the articles, virually anyone can bias the articles.

Several members have had UOA done for Mobil 1 in the Prius engine. All have come out favorable, although a few have reported some fuel dilution. If it protects the engine and keeps it clean, it really doesn't matter if it is dino, synthetic or made from whale snot.

it has nothing to do with wikipedia or encyclopedia Britannica for that matter, all you have to do is to read about lubricants for combustion engines, its not to tough to do.
