<_< What are you guys talking about filling up the Prius pump-click-pump? I am about to do my second fill up probably next week....I didn't know there was a special way to do it??

thanks

Well there must be some way that's better than what I sometimes do, which is getting it all over my shoes. The other alternative not filling it clear up. It seems harder in winter because the fuel bladder doesn't expand right when it's cold. Maybe not a problem in FL? Anyway what I am trying now is to run the pump as slow as it will go, then when it clicks off I do that one more time, then quit. I end up about 2 gallons less than full but it doesn't spill on me and the car.

That's only if I go to WA to get my gas, here in OR we can't pump our own. That's a real mess because the kid at the gas station can't be trained. I usually end up with spilled gas or a half a tank.

*edit* I try never to miss a chance to whine about the fuel bladder.

Owner of a 05 prius with just under 5k miles on it. Summer was great pulling 450-500 miles per tank. Now in the last week in November and first week in December where the temps are consistantly low to mid 20's I am getting 230 miles per tank with a wind behind me. When I run the fuel down to the light blinking I can squeeze (off first click) about 7 gal. into the tank.....

I have called my dealer wondering if I have issues and they say if my area is running "Summer Fuel" this would impact how hard the engine has to run to keep the water hot.... /boggle

now I am not pissed at 230 mpt since it is still around 30ish mpg which is better than I was making with my F150 BUT somwhow in all my research and talking to the salesman I failed to find out about such a DRASTIC mpg change during the winter...

Any thoughts?

Avg Temp: 70s
Price of Tank: $ 24.00

Tank Miles: 427 (8.001 gallons filled)
Avg Tank Mileage: 53.36
Avg Temperature: mainly 60s and 70s
Avg Price per Gallon: 2.08

I've lost most of the receipts, but until the
cold hit Dallas, I was getting mileage in this range.
