I just traded in my 2005 Prius for a 2007 Touring. The trick for the nav system lockout disabling on the 2005 (Volume screen, then upper left, lower left, upper left, lower left) doesn't seem to work. What's the trick for the 2007???? Anyone know?

I presume it's the same as for the 2006....cut the speed sensor wire and install a switch. You can see where that wire is here.

Don't get fooled by Coastal's Ultimate Lockpick. It does the same thing as the override trick in the 2004-2005 so it won't work in the 2006-2007.

I don't want to actually mess with any hardware. On the 2006, you could choose the volume screen, then tap upper left lower left upper left lower left, and get some sort of control screen where you could choose override and then you could control the nav even while in motion. Does this exist for the 2007? The technique mentioned doesn't work.

Really? I heard that that trick never worked on the 2006 and there are several threads (here is one of them) on this site to that effect.

The 2004 and 2005 are another matter.

You could NOT do this on the 2006. Without cutting the wire you're out of luck right now. In a year nobody has come up with any other fix.

So wait, you can disable the navigation lockout in an 04 without doing any kind of modification? Where can I find an explaination of how to do this?

If I were to get a 2007 Prius (currently have an '05), will this speed sensor wire and switch install let me run a DVB player I can have hardwired into the MFD?

There are several options for the speed wire defeat

1. nav speed sensor - cut the speed sensor to the nav, and you'll have full access, but the car will apear stationary on the screen until it's reattached/it updates location with a satelite.

2. BT speed sensor - cut this wire, and you'll enable full BT cell phone functionality, however the wheels on the energy screen will stop rotating, and the 5 minute bars on the consumption screen will come up 0 while it's disconnected. no information is lost (ie the overall MPG number still updates) except the 5 minute bars. reconnect to reenable these.

If you want to wire in a video source, the best bet is to do the anytime reverse camera mod, which works in the same way as these... snip a wire, stick in a diode, and run it through a switch to another wire. Then you just have to put a switch on the video source (being the backup camera or DVD player). Of course, you also need to alter the output from the DVD player to be compatible with the MFD...

info for all three mods (nav speed wire, BT speed wire, any time reverse camera) can be found on darell's website, http://evnut.com/prius_mods.htm

THIS DOES NOT WORK ON A 2006 OR 2007, ONLY ON A 2004 OR 2005!
  1. Press MENU
  2. Press VOLUME
  3. Touch Upper Left corner of the MFD
  4. Touch the Upper Right corner of the MFD
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 one more time. This will take you to a service menu.
  6. Press and hold button marked OVERRIDE.
Note: Once you power off, this goes away. This can be done either stopped or in motion.

You can go to here or here to see the proceedure with pictures.

Do NOT try to play with the other buttons. While some are information, and others reset, there's one marked LOAD which tries to load the DVD while it's still in there. This will mess up your NAV system until it's reset, and that entails taking it apart to get to the reset button.
