Just curious, as I'm a total newb to the Prius world. I just got my Prius yesterday and got a base touring model.

Question is, does the black part above the cubby hole light up? Above the vol, disc, AM, FM knobs, etc. I was curious if it did, because I'm pretty sure I remember my father in law's lit, but he also had the JBL system with the 6 disc. Is there a difference, or do the base models light up as well?

Thanks in advance.

Bump..

this thing can't possibly be a big black space, can it? It's got to light up and show the track/station/volume/etc.

It's a big black space on my base model 2005.

Edit: The only way I know of to see the info you're talkng about is to activate the audio on the MFD. Kind of lame IMO.

That's lame.

I thought it actually lit up...like every other head unit in existance.

You'd think Toyota would have designed something you could turn on and turn off...so instead of having to switch back and forth between audio/climate/GPS/mileage/etc...you could actually see your audio settings without switching.

That's kind of a downer.

Thanks for the reply.

On the JBL audio systems also, all the details are only on the MFD. You have to switch to the audio screen with the display bezel button to be sure what the source is for the audio.
