Friends: 0 | Found something interesting tonight on the BB Support Site and thought I would share for the other BB owners: The secret on how to make your BB push your contacts to the car. I followed these instructions and my BB Curve uploaded my contacts in about two minutes. Cheers! Angie ------------------------------------ How to Share Your Address Book To share contacts with a paired Bluetooth enabled car kit, complete the following steps on the BlackBerry device: 1. On the BlackBerry device Home screen, click Options > Bluetooth. 2. Display the menu and click Options. 3. Set the Address Book Transfer field to one of the following options: * All Entries - Share all the contacts in your BlackBerry device address book * Hotlist Only - Share contacts that you have had contact with recently over the phone 4. Display the menu and click Save. Note: When paired with a Bluetooth enabled device that is not a car kit, the Address Book Transfer field can only be set to Enabled or Disabled. |

As it is, I can only use the address book from the BlackBerry handset. I have the Sprint BlackBerry 8330 Curve if that matters.

Friends: 0 | Will the transfer of the contacts occur automatically when the phone is paired and "Address Book Transfer" is set to "All Entries"? or will I have to do something else to the phone to initiate the transfer. I have the Blackberry 8700c from Cingular/ATT |

1a. On the BB, update the ABILITY to do a file transfer by highlighting your Prius "INTEGRATED HANDSFREE" > hit your MENU button > select DEVICE PROPERTIES. 1b. On the Prius, get into the Phone Settings and set it up to TRANSFER PHONEBOOK. This will put the Prius in File Transfer Mode which will make your BB aware of that mode being available in BlueTooth in the next step. You'll see a message telling you to (paraphrased) "push the phone book from your BlueTooth device." 1c. Back on your BB, when the Properties for "INTEGRATED HANDSFREE" are displayed, hit your MENU button and select REFRESH SERVICE LIST. You should see "OBEX Transfer" or something similar appear in the same properties dialog after a few seconds. 1d. Once it shows the "OBEX Transfer" capability, press your MENU button and "SAVE." The words may change to read "Object Push" and that's okay. Your BB now knows the relationship with your Prius BT includes the ability to push files to it. (You may have to play with the timing of steps 1b - 1d until you're successful. Sometimes the BT connection drops for about 2 seconds then reconnects with the enhance capability. This may "confuse" the whole connection and you may need to start over and time it right.) Now that your BB knows it can Push Objects to this connection, you're ready to proceed with steps 2 and 3. But you're not done yet. After this is all set up and configured right, THEN you have to actually perform the file transfer of the phone book. More steps: 5. Put the Prius in "Transfer Phone Book" mode. You'll see that message on the screen to "Push Phone Book from Phone" 6. NOW you can go to the BlueTooth Options menu on your BlackBerry and select "Transfer Address Book." Your BB will show that it's reconnected with the BT connection and in the process of transferring the Address Book. Your Prius will indicate a file transfer is in progress. The phone will show "Successful Transfer" but the Prius will take several seconds longer before it shows that it's done.
