Friends: 3 | Hi Everyone, I tried to install the Vais Sl2I with a lockpick 3+ Ultimate. My problem is when cycling through the audio inputs it goes from CD to DVD. I tried installing only the VAIS, but the DVD was still present and no CD1. I get the long beep along with the few short beeps. I programmed as CD-MP3 player per the instructions. Anyone else that has had this problem your comments would be helpful. I'm planning on calling VAIS on Monday, but if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated. ---Kent |

Friends: 0 | Please let us know what happens! I'm considering the same set-up and was hoping it would work better than all the horrors I've read about some of the other packages. Good luck! |

Friends: 3 | I talked with VAIS today via email. They asked me to send the unit back to them after doing some debugging over the phone. They felt that the CD1 should have displayed, but was not working. Unfortunately, they want me to send the cable connected to the radio back with the unit. I will have to take the dash apart again to accomplish that, but they are being very helpful to resolve the problem. I will submit updates. |

Friends: 3 | VAIS support is outstanding, I contacted Eugene at VAIS via email and determined that the Sl2I needed to be returned to them for a firmware upgrade. After shipping it back to them they returned it within a day after receiving it. I being a programmer type rushed to the Prius to install. It still did not work, but let me be clear - I DID NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. After Eugene asked me to tell him how the dip switches were set he realized my mistake. Now I have CD-MP3 player that uses my iPod playlists that are controlled by the steering wheel with the ability to use the random function. The unit shows the playlist along with the whole song title. In addition, when you shut the car off it shuts down the iPod and starts up when you get into the car. This is a very nice unit with great technical support. VAIS iPod Integration is working with the Lockpick 3+ and XM Radio on a 2006 Prius without a problem. Thanks VAIS, ---Kent

Friends: 0 | I had my Slinq2 installed via BestBuy over the weekend. They did it in about 30 minutes and it works great! One thing I'm trying to figure out is: Sometimes the Folder List button in the upper right of the screen becomes grayed out. It's pretty arbitrary how it grays out and/or appears. Usually it requires me to skip to the next playlist and then back to the one I was listening to in order to get it to be selectable again. |

Friends: 3 | One my 2006, it grays out every time the car is moving. With the lockpick 3+, my passenger normally presses in the left corner to allow addresses to be entered while moving. It does not appear to have that ability with the VAIS, but I will ask Eugene, since I have already emailed him twenty times. ---Kent Quote:

Friends: 3 | I asked Eugene at VAIS and he said that is a safety feature of the Toyota/Lexus line when the car is moving. The only way to change it would to add a speed defeat which as been discussed in other threads. Since you can change the folders with the Folder Up/Folder Down I don't think it is necessary to add the speed defeat, but it is an option. ---Kent Quote:

I can also vouch for the great technical support at VAIS and have also emailed Eugene many times. I have the SLI unit in a Lexus ES350. I just bought a 2008 Toyota Prius for my husband and am interested in the Lockpick unit and also how it works with the SLI unit. Toyota has now disabled the navigation override sequence that I still have in the Lexus. So I want to get get that. Will the $99 unit work fine or do I need the Ultimate. It would be nice to also unlock the bluetooth and I thought get the audio detail button working. Can someone tell me how the two units both get installed? I know the SLi hooks up to the back of the Nav. Wouldn't the Lockpick go in the same place? Any advice on which one to get for the Prius would be appreciated. | |

Friends: 3 | I installed the SlinQ2 first with a Y cable that then plugs into the Y adapter for the Lockpick 3+. Both work well together. The only drawback on the 2006 Prius is that the detail screen is not available when moving. I don't know how this works in a 2008. I mostly know the artist by the song name which is displayed along with the playlist folder. I would love to have the detail screen, but that is not possible for the 2006 without the speed defeat button. Hope this helps. ---Kent Quote:
