I initially installed the XM antenna on the passenger side with lots of drop-outs. I moved the antenna to the similar position on the driver's side and now I rarely lose the signal!

This info is also in the File Library with the directions.

hofechr...........have you had any resolution with your XM problem? I am trying to get the same problem resolved on my Super White 09 Prius with factory XM. They have moved the antenna about an inch to the center of the dash and that didn't help. I have suggested a shark fin or external antenna. I am getting that "deer in the headlights" look right now from them. It seems as though I must be the only one in the world with this problem...he-he. So please update me and let me know if and how your problem was resolved. I need some ammunition here!!! Thanks..........

I own a 2009 Magnetic Gray Metallic Prius and have the factory installation of XM Radio also included in my car which works with the MFD touch screen. The Toyota technicians installed the antenna on the passenger side dashboard near the front windshield. I started questioning the decision to place the antenna there almost right from the time I got my Prius since I know from owning an additional 3rd party XM Roady receiver that the antennas belong on the roof. I have had several losses in signal...too many to count over the past couple months I've owned my car. Signal losses are quite random, and I don't even need to have obstructions overhead. It got to the point where I actually had the antenna replaced this past Friday at my local Toyota dealership in hopes that would correct any issues. It has not. On the way home (about a 25 minute trip), I had 8 drops in XM Radio signal...4 of which were not even .25 miles from the Toyota dealership. This morning on the way to church, I drove through town, crossing over a bridge (no obstructions overhead) and I had an additional 8 drops in signal in about .3 miles. I have other stories I can cite if you're at all interested. Crazy and quite unacceptable in my view.

The people at the Toyota dealership have to me to let them know if this antenna works or not. I'll be contacting them within the next week or so. They have also told me that the factory antenna that is mounted to the driver's side dashboard is not weather-resistent (not made for outdoor use) and also does not have the magnetic surface so that it can easily cling to the roof of the Prius. Also, the antenna connection from my XM Road receiver is not compatible with the connection of the factory kit that's currently in my Prius (I thought my other antenna with the magnet might be the solution for my current install). I'm beginning to think that they need to install an antenna like this one in my Prius:

XMFanStore XM-2SAA Micro Antenna

Just thought I'd share my experiences if it helps any of you.

We just bought a 2009 Prius with Package V. It's Sat ready but doesn't have Sat radio. How much is the OEM sat radio and how easy would it to be installed?

DFW....I think I paid $450 for the receiver and installation at the dealer. There are links on the website for installation of the XM yourself. I seem to remember the posts mentioned about 1 1/2 hrs for the install. Just please.....don't put the antenna on the dash....bad move!! Both Sirius and XM recommend outside antennas even though Toyota recommends an interior dash mount. Let me know what you decide to do. I'll keep you posted with my discussions with my Toyota dealer, service manager, and sales guy. I haven't had any problems with the car but this and have had nothing but a positive experience with these people. So I hope to be able to say the same thing when this is all over.....

SAT ready means? vs.... ? I have an 09 pkg 6. The radio has SAT button, but nothing else. Is this "ready"? or ?? I would hope i simply need a subscription, but i have a feeling "Ready" simply means capable, but NEEDS stuff LOL

Our package V said XM Sat Ready, but when you hit the button it does nothing but go to AM. So that tells me I need to install the XM module. I'd like to get it for the TrafficNav since we have the Nav too.

You can get everything for Sirius installation for under $200. Get a low-end "dock & play" Sirius radio like a Stratus 4 or InV2 and the SVCDOC1 dock and TOYSC1 adapter. Not sure whether there's a similar low-cost route for XM (but the programming's about 95% the same).

Virtual.............you got my car there!!! She's a beauty!!

The car comes wired for it from the factory. You have to have someone install the receiver and "fit kit" (not sure what that is...) and then sign up with XM for a subscription. There are posts on this website about how to install yourself if you are interested in that. Post back here as what you decide to do. Knowledge is an empowering thing!! I will continue to update what goes on with my personal saga....I will not rest until I have an exterior antenna.....that's for sure!!

yap. LOL

Ready SHOULD mean "hey, just subscribe, pay the bill, and listen". But I guess "ready" really means buy the receiver, antenna, and get the subscription, then enjoy.

Not so "ready" i guess

ugh. LOL

I really wanted Black, Gray, then white first. So silver was my 4th option. But, since it looks really, really good, in 95% of lighting, I am not complaining

BTW when it is direct sun I swear the paint almost glows.
