Default 08#6 w/ JBL but want to feel bass - HOW?

All I want to do (above my stock JBL sound system) is FEEL the bass (not just hear it).

Is this possible with my stock amp - by just adding a sub woofer to the system?

Or will I need to break down and buy an amp to power a sub good enough to feel?

Basically, what are the minimalist steps to get bass in my car I can feel.
EXCEPT FOR THAT, THE 2008 PACKAGE 6 JBL SOUNDS FINE!!!

well, duh.
Question was... can I add a sub with the existing set up (just plug it in), or is all the amp being used and a sub would require more than stock?

And how about a link instead of an empty post?

The JBL amp is puny and will not support a subwoofer. You'll either need to go with a self-powered subwoofer, like the Kenwood, Bazooka, or Infinity, or get a separate amp and sub. This has been discussed many, many times. If you use the search tool, you'll find the answers, easily. I recommend using the keywords, "subwoofer" and "jbl".

thanks, thats what I was wondering (if the stock amp would power the addition of a sub). I didn't know of self powered subs, that may be just right.

Appreciate the info!!!

There's a review of a Bazooka in a Prius at Product Review - Bazooka BTA6100 Subwoofer

Others have put self powered subs on either side in a custom box.

Nice! It looks like it'll fit behind the back seat.

Is it too late to ask: please don't?

I know that it's nice to be able to "feel the bass", but if you can feel it, the odds are good that everyone within 100' can "feel the bass" too.

Before you go and spend money on something that will annoy your neighbors, spend a few seconds thinking about how it will affect others. The Prius is one of the lowest-polluting vehicles out there -- do you really need to add noise pollution?

oh, give me a break.

I want to 'feel' the bass on highways and interstates, not cruising neighborhood roads at 2 miles an hour with my arm hanging out the window.

I'm not 16 and rude, or 40 something with the loudest motorcycle exhaust I can buy, just want to feel my music a little.

If someone does hear my bass (doubtful, I bought a tight bass sub, not a box w/ 2 15"'s & a super amp), it will be for a couple seconds as I pass by. They may even like the song.
